the peace corps made sure she knew the language and culture.
I worked with one Mongolian. He was off his rocker. a Phd, really good understanding of our field, but so messed up psychologically.

I went to Inner Mongolia with some work colleagues when I spent a summer in Qingdao. As I understand it, it was the part of Mongolia that had significant resources, so China took it. And it was one of the nicer parts of China I saw.
I imagine Mongolia itself has the same natural beauty. Many different sorts of steppes, and I believe the vast majority of the land out there is unowned, so it could make for some great camping if you're into that sort of thing.
