For I heard them say let us go to Dothan. Five pages on Dothan I’ll have to let chamber of commerce know.

I have to agree with you. Loop. Bisected highways. Boulevards at diagonals and a strong grid.

The strongest grid in Dothan is the power grid required to keep all those traffic lights on the circle working.
Worst part about the lights is that they are all on timers rather than having a sensor register whether there is an automobile at an intersection. The red lights are excruciatingly long!

My mother lives next door to my brother's family there. The town and the people are very nice and downhome.

Dothan has produced a few good LSU players. Josh Williford being the most recent I can think of.
And, prior to Netflix and Amazon wrecking the movie rental business, Movie Gallery was headquartered in Dothan.

It's a decent town. Population around 60k. No real industry to speak of since apart from a nearby nuclear power plant it mostly peanuts and soy beans with cotton making a comeback after being devastated by the Boll Weevil. Peanuts turned out to be much pore profitable than cotton and the folks in Enterprise erected a golden boll weevil statue because of the boon to their economy.

Dothan hosts the National Peanut Festival in October/November each year. Instead of worshiping idols of boll weevils, Dothan has erected numerous idols of peanuts through he city.

I used to hate the place, but after living in the Atlanta metro area for twenty years I kind of enjoy driving four hours to spend a weekend with my side of the family that lives there. It sure beats the hell out of where we were raised in Ashland, Kentucky!

Until the early 90's it was the condom capital of the world. Every major condom company made them there. Also, why Mobile used to a major port for liquid latex imports. The same for surgical gloves. Then the plants all began to be dismantled and shipped to Malayasia.

It's a shite city to live in. Gangs, crime, traffic, terrible public schools.

It has a big commuter geographical area. All of Southeast Alabama, extreme southwest Georgia and a few counties in Florida it is the closest real city of any size.
It serves that function very well, all the business on the circle.

Living in a small town or the country 30-60 minutes away and you commute, go there regularly or occasionally, then it's a good city.

The traffic is out of proportion for its size and what the city offers. The whole business, retail, entertainment etc is almost all on a few big highways connected the circle, 231, 84. Nothing but congested strip malls everywhere. High speed limit, traffic lights every 5 seconds, a million people weaving through every which way. It has been one of the most accident prone and deadliest stretches in the country and it sucks to drive on. And it's where everything is.

It’s on the way to a lot of beaches for a lot of people so I imagine there are always tons of people passing thru in the summertime.

King’s Appliance, home of the talking twenty dollar bill, on the circle in Dothan.

Played a jr high football game there once. The smell of baking bread filled the air. Undoubtedly, a bakery was close by.

That loop is the worst thing you will ever drive on, I think it sets the world record for most red lights

Wait loops have red lights? the one in Jax does not. I thought that was the point of a loop to help ease the flow of traffic around the city.

Yes it does. With Mogadishu caliber maintenance. Pretty sure they’d need to replace the entire suspension on my rental when I brought it back.
