I used to be in the "stop being a pussy" camp until I suffered my bout of depression. That attitude caused me to suffer for months before I got treatment because I was in denial about it. Once the situation passed I came off them but I won't hesitate next time if it ever happens again.

Again, let's use the most extreme example we can find. Of course people who have seen other people blown up and shot or are suicidal have a mental illness.
The 40 year old woman who's kids are now driving and has put on 20 pounds so now needs Xanax, much more up for debate.

I've seen war.
Some can handle it, and some can't.....same as everyday life.
My Dad was in Vietnam in 64-66, and his younger brother from 67-69....they saw war, also.
They weren't suicidal.
People today are looking for a simple fix, and no responsibility.
