There is a middle ground you know. The right medicine for the right patient.

My teen years were the 80's, dumbass. Hope you never have to deal with a mental illness. Seriously, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Yeah nobody drank or smoked weed in the 80s

Have you been diagnosed as being clinically depressed? If so, it would be unwise for you to stop treatment. It's a permanent condition.
Has your life been good while on the meds? A lot of people establish a good life while on meds and think they don't need them anymore. Then they plummet again.
Prozac is an ancient SSRI. There are new, much more efficient meds that have far fewer, if any, side effects. Have your doctor help find the one that best suits your body chemistry.
Keep taking the meds and continue living a good life.

Prozac and Xanax for 20+ years? Jesus Christ. I'd love to drop people like you off in sub-Saharan Africa or Pakistan or some other shithole for six months. When you've got no healthcare, no food or clean water, civil wars, and your lifespan is 40, you've got a reason for the anxiety. Somewhere, your grandfather is calling you a pussy.
It is 2019, 80% of the population has access to the internet,99% have a TV yet somehow ignorance of mental health issues remain. His problem is one malfunctioning brain chemistry, his grandfather would have likely just committed suicide if faced with a mental health issue.

You really can't help being a douchebag in every single thread can you?
Why does every thread have to be about some sad sap trying to quit being a drunk or pill popper full of contradictory opinions of their last thread?

Embarrassing to themselves, yet too stupid to see that.
OT After every mass shooting: "it's not guns, it's mental health!"
OT any other time mental health is brought up "suck it up pussy! "

Hmmmm.....I think mass shooters know EXACTLY what they are doing.

I would not describe clinical depression as permanent. It usually goes into remission. The danger of stopping the meds is a relapse.

Considering suicide rates are higher now than basically ever, I disagree. So either, something has caused a huge spike in a change of brain chemistry in one to two decades (doubtful) or people are just soft.

I figured it would be harder to get off Xanax than Prozac

Yep. At some point you have to pop the tittie out of your mouth and face the real world without opiods and mood altering drugs. You live in the USA. How fricking hard can your life be over the last two decades?
You are just trolling, no one is this stupid about mental illness.

A decent number of posters here (mr. smith) regard science as an existential threat so you're wasting your time bringing up brain chemistry and neurology.
