I was contacted recently by a guy named Michael. I declined.
Michael, if you’re reading this, this OP is the kind of shite I was talking about.

I’ve yet to get any call or email about donating (Bc am not an OT baller) but when I do I’ll be doing the same. They aren’t missing what little I can give them, but they won’t see a dime from me
They always manage to find me even when I move or change phone numbers.

I don’t see what the big deal is.
I'm assuming this is an age thing...sub 30 probably?
Thing is, those of us that are older spent the better part of our lives being told that segregation was wrong. Not just when it was state sponsored, but even things as innocent as groups decided to eat lunch together at school. The idea that it would not just be OK but celebrated to break off into special groups for things like this are anathema to everything we were all taught.
It's as if our entire lives were spent living someone's idea that they thought was the right way only to then wait for 50 years and then say, "Nah wait...go back and do that other thing where we were all separate but equal."

The young girl that called me was sweet but I told her exactly why I'm not interested in donating anything

What is the point of these separate graduation ceremonies?

I had someone contact me about donating to my alma mater a month or two back. I told them I wouldn't give them $5 and why.
They hit me up for some cash recently. I told them to go take it from Chief Diversity Officer‘s salary (which is $180k by the way).

this is ridiculous. are they having special ceremonies for all heterosexual people? all bisexuals? all swingers? all dildo lovers? fudge packers only? all bottoms?

I could easily have missed something. But how is it segregation?
When I graduated from college, There were 3 graduation ceremonies at least that I had to attend. One major one and one each for the individual schools I graduated from. And I know a lot of other clubs had graduation celebrations. I don’t see how this is trying to separate anything out.

You don't see how having multiple ceremonies based on things like sexual preference and race are separating anything?
Again...imagine if this was the state separating these groups like this, and you'd see the issue. And willingly breaking into group likes this were prohibited by the very same people dong the separating now when I was a kid, because clearly if you wanted to be with people with similar interests then that meant you hated others or something.
What I'm saying is that those of us who are older see the shell game here, and it's why we're not happy about it. We actually took MLK's words to heart and have largely lived our lives by them

Attention. Separation. Exclusion.

People don't want equality anymore. They want preferential treatment.

Imagine the outrage if there was a straight white people graduation.

I understand what you mean. I just don’t think that is applicable to this situation.
Self organization doesn’t necessarily mean exclusionary.
One of the executives at my old firm talked in depth about this concept once. He went on about how he was a a member of the women’s career advancement group at the bank, not because he was a woman looking for advancement but because it helped give him further insight into the lives of the employees underneath them and he made it very clear he wanted people to join lots of like organizations. And he was not a liberal dude.
Or at work I’m a part of some groups that have have a lot of upper management speakers. And anyone can opt into those groups but I’m the only one in my department who does. So I go to those meeting s and listen and learn stuff that isn’t secret shite. But I learn things way before my managers ever do because they don’t. My being a part of that group has given me what may be exclusionary knowledge, but that’s because through the basic principles of self organization, has allowed me to access stuff that I wouldn’t in any other way. That isn’t segregation, that’s organization.
Idk, I’m hung over.
