I am a psychiatrist.

I spend 10-12 hours a day trying to help people figure out themselves. It is mentally draining for 40-50 hrs a week.

The very last thing on my list is to talk to a person when I get home - Much less think about how they function intellectually.

You got it all wrong OP.

Two psychiatrists are having an after work drink. One is miserable while the other one is happy and smiling. The miserable one asks, "How can you look happy when you listen to people's problems all day?"

The happy one replies, "Who listens?"

Yeah you say that. But while I keep my job in the office during office hours, I still can’t help applying the things I know in my field to everyday out of work events.

Everybody analyzes everybody. There’s no doubt in my mind that people with an advanced degree in psychiatry/psychology don’t at least subconsciously use it to pinpoint people.

It’s kind of like when people assume I want to argue with them over some silly crap because I’m an attorney. I do that all day, every day, against people who are educated and trained to argue persuasively. Arguing with you is almost certainly going to be boring.

You need a psychiatrist, baw.

Idk, man. If you were truly a narcissist, you wouldn't notice that useless shite.

It’s my favorite pastime. This place is raw emotion. It’s uninhibited fun. Locker room meets society.

So much more entertaining than work.

Part of it is thr public perception. Part of it is how we are trained which is not always so easy to turn off. I am in the psychology field. We are always looking to solve the puzzle.
