Artesia New Mexico is better! Just 35 miles south of Roswell was born and raised there! Great family small town feel, great sports town! But like everyone has said isn’t crap out there!! Beautiful country to the west in the mountains thought. If your a outdoors guy and love to hunt that would be a positive to live out there! A lot of state and BLM land to drive wherever and shoot rabbits, coyotes etc and or anything that’s in season.

Great weather in NM. Seems like it’s always sunny.

I lived there for a year while working on a project. Place sucks, but I had a good time. Met a lot of people while there. Good Mexican food options, but other than that options are limited.

Definitely have some shady areas in the city, nobody messed with me though even though I went to some shady bars and house parties.

I’ve driven through.

The entire towns lifeblood is the UFO shtick. Outside of that it is nothing but desolation.

Dry, and hot.
Good on sinuses.

Came here to post about Artesia. I went out there bird hunting twice last year and was blown away by the town. I’m used to little podunk West Texas towns that are all the same and expected the same. It’s located right next to the Pecos river and has a good bit of farming, pecan orchards, and overall “greenery” not expected for that area. The main strip in Artesia is very nice with restaurants, a brewery, bowling alley, etc on a tree lined road. The Adobe Rose is a legit good restaurant. We sat outside by a fire pit and ate a filet and listened to a good cover artist while it snowed lightly. Once you leave the main drag it’s not as nice but still a pretty good sized town. If you hunt there’s amazing dove and quail hunting with deer and elk not far away. There’s a ton of oil field work going on out there but not much else it seems.

Depends really what your situation is. I have found that it takes me a couple of years to get tired of even really shitty places, so I would try it out if you have anything at all to gain from it.

Weird and mostly depressing place. Except the flying saucer McDonald's. Wait, yeah that too.

I lived there for 8 years. Granted that was about 20 years ago.

My spacecraft crashed there many years ago. Luckily, I was able to break free from my handlers.

They have a Buffalo Wild Wings there. How bad could it possibly be?

Had no idea it's got a pop of almost 50k.

Would have guessed a few thousand at most.

I've been there a couple of times and it is pretty remote to say the least! They do have cool street lights and McDonalds with UFO themes.
