They are like buying the Wal-Mart brand (Equate?) equivalent of the name brand of a product.

Kia’s are unreliable, but they come with a nice warranty and they poached Audi/VW designers.

I would consider a Stinger. But not anything else they make.

So cool he waited 6 months to tell everyone about it.

He spent 25 minutes explaining all its shortcomings and defending with nothing but price.

Also it is already 2+ years old. Way behind on tech explains why it is so cheap and why it can't compete with anything in it's MSRP bracket.

I would love one as a rental car, wouldn't drop money on one even at the deal he got.

I'd go with the Hyundai instead. Same models essentially but Hyundai bought Kia a few years ago and have been improving Kia's quality. They do a great deal of testing on vehicles. Hyundai is trying to become the new Toyota or Honda with their quality. Good reviews on "thedrive.com"

I see lots of Kias on the road these days. Needed a new car recently and briefly thought about Kia but I just couldn’t say no to the reliability of Hondas

Good luck. I work on all makes and models and Hyundai are all POSs as well as Kias. Both brands are total junk. Hyundai will never be Toyota or Honda and you can take that to the bank.

And you can easily see that in the used market Toyota Honda > Kia Hyundai Nissan

You better get a new bank. Sure the old ones were shoddy, but the improvements made have been pretty substantial. Plus the 10 yr /100K warranty says a lot. Most quality ratings rank them high and usually among the Honda and Toyota cars. And no, I don't sell Kia or Hyundai.
