Area around Tulsa U is not that great. It is on 15th and Harvard. You want to be South at least 5 or 6 miles. Exception is Utica square area on 21st but that is Old Tulsa Money area and real estate is not cheap. Nice area just not inexpensive.

I have business in Broken Arrow occasionally and it seems like a nice suburb.

What are you talking about? You want to be south of the university

What about the area around Tulsa University?

Great area. I lived at 21st and Harvard for awhile. Good central location. I’m assuming you don’t have kids. If you have kids the schools are better in the suburbs

There are plenty of public school options in Tulsa proper. Booker T might be one of the best schools in the state.

Yea man. With all due respect you mean south. 5 miles north of TU is where you want to avoid.

Booker T is a magnet school and located 100% in the ghetto.

Yeah, we have kids. Mom will be at home full time, I’ll be on campus. We will probably be gone by school age, but we plan to home school, regardless.

We are considering living on campus if it’s nice and safe and mom can go shopping and take kids out to parks and stuff without that nagging feeling of being unsafe. I know anything can happen anywhere, but I like to reduce my odds as much as possible.

And a great school. Tons of kids from all over Tulsa go there.

You’ll be fine living on campus. Gathering place not far. Best park for kids in the country. No joke

Thanks, y’all. Making me feel a lot better after reading stuff online. Gonna make a trip up to check it out in person soon. Appreciate y’all giving me the lay of the land.

I went through this same exercise. You will not be disappointed with Tulsa. It’s a incredible city and place to raise a family. Arts, music, outdoor activities. Good stuff

I like Tulsa. Hills, seasons, close to a nice lake, hunting, and some really nice neighborhoods.

I can’t give as much info as some in this thread have, but my in-laws live in Jenks and I’ve been to Tulsa dozens of times. I love it there. Can’t recommend the Jenks/Bixby area enough if you have school-aged kids.

Great place to raise a family and great hunting just outside the city. The people are down to earth and welcoming in my experience and you get 4 seasons.

It has nice scenery and, like other people have said, The Gathering Place is incredible to bring your kids to. We go every time we visit.
