What’s life like there? Places to go, places to avoid? Is it safe? Dangerous? What’s the scoop?

Put it this way: It's a First 48 shooting location.

It’s mostly Greasers with some Socs mixed in.

You might see Matt Dillon here and there.

Coppola is more often than not filming a movie somewhere in town.

Great town. Gathering Place. On the Arkansas River. Green Country. Rolling hills. What’s not to like?

Seems like they have a bit of a crime problem looking at statistics.

I've watched the First 48 for almost 20 years. No way I would live in Tulsa.

The icy roads and tornadoes took a little getting used to but it was better than I expected. It doesn’t take much to get to the Ozarks. Don’t go north except for the airport.

Lives there for 6 years. Absolutely loved it and would love back in a heartbeat given the opportunity. Yea there is crime but it is mainly concentrated on the north side. Anything 41st street north to Bixby and Broken Arrow are great areas. Schools are great and lots to do every weekend.

I lived there for seven years. Lived in three different areas, all in mid-town area.
I loved it. Like most cities it has bad areas you avoid at night. Not really a sports town but a real good music scene.
If you have kids you’ll need to head to the burbs: jenks, bixby, broken arrow.
North of 412 is the wrong side of the tracks as they say. If I were single I’d be in brookside area or pearl street area. Everything is close, city is laid out on an easy grid making it easy to zip around quick.
Good bars, decent restaurants, although nothing like New Orleans or Baton Rouge IMO

Thanks, some solid info and much appreciated.
What about the area around Tulsa University? Is it situated in a good area?

Pretty decent description overall. South of downtown is maybe the safest city in the country other than 61st and Peoria. Right or wrong, Tulsa is the most segregated city I’ve been to and that’s saying a lot.

Lots of oil money, green spaces, museums, good music. It’s a hidden gem.

Is it worth driving an hour and a half from NW Arkansas? How’s the Hard Rock Casino?
