Only part of Gwinnett County I'd consider calling "country"

ETA: That said I haven't sniffed it in 15-20 years so I'm sure it's some sprawled suburban nightmare now

400 >>>>>>>>> 85

85 is awful during the week, Ive never been that bad on 400. 285 is the worst, with 85 right there behind it

A teacher at South Gwinnett just recently told a friend that the Dacula area was "full of rednecks."

I don't think Dacula is all that bad. It doesn't have as much of the unwanted element as Snellville/Lawrenceville/Duluth does. It is still somewhat rural, but pretty easy access to Mall of Georgia (can't wait until the 316/Collins Hill-20 interchange is done). There is also a good bit of retail not too far the otherside going towards Winder, at 316 & 81. Home Depot, Belk, that kind of thing.

I'm not talking about the highways. I'm talking about the surface streets. Johns Creek is fricking brutal.

Trophy Club is a great golf course.

When is the last time you played it? I live in Buford. It was a great course 5 years ago. But they have let it go to hell. Its cheap so I still play it.

Our real estate agent isn't saying much about the area citing the FAIR housing act. It seems a little remote but I work from home so I don't have to deal with traffic that much.

Does your wife have to fight the traffic? If so what area will she be working in?

If you're going to live in Gwinnett County there are really only 2 options IMO. Suwanee and Buford. Dacula was a nice place to live and go to school about 8 years ago. Now, not so much. They do have the biggest Kroger in the southeast if thats what youre into.

I thought the same thing.

I lived near by in Moroe for a few years... It's nice, but to many Falcon's fans I would move a closer to Athens. Not much farther and the cool factor goes up!

Good ol' Snellville. Where everybody is somebody, it says so right there on the sign as you enter the town.

I spent 20 years there and graduated from Shiloh. I would never, ever go back..

Just go ahead and avoid the entire I-85 corridor.

Yea, we decided against Dacula as it was just too far away from everything and the airport. We are now looking in the Alpharetta, Marietta area with the possibility of Buford.

Any suggestions on these areas is definitely appreciated.

Anything off of Johnson Ferry or Roswell rd in east cobb is very desirable.

Alpharetta, johns creek , cumming/south Forsyth, all great areas, with great schools, restaurants, parks etc. Alpharetta has some new large construction projects that will be cool for the area. Johns creek is nice, great schools traffic sucks in many spots. South Forsyth is great and an expanding area, its the next exits past Alpharetta. Great schools as well

In each of these areas, if you have to travel, judge based on how far it takes you to get to 400.

I live there, if you have any specific questions ask, you can find me more on the secrant though.

Marietta and Alpharetta are basically interchangeable. Buford is still kind of country but not a bad place to grow up, clean and have a good football team.

I don't know if I'd say that. Both good places though.
