Our lilly white school district (73% White, 19% Hispanic) now has a chief equity and academic officer:
Marlena Gross-Taylor
According to her bio she grew up in Baton Rouge and received her undergraduate degree from LSU:
While I don't think we need a new, woke created position in our school district, she seems like the best we could hope for based on a few things in her bio:
Appears to have raised solid citizens(In comparison to say someone like Bill DeBlasio):
Reads good books:
Lived in Wyoming
Has two dogs:
And this for good measure:
I figure somebody in the OT knows her and could provide some more background. Maybe she even votes Republican.

she is a mother to two college-aged sons. Daniel, 22, is a senior at the U.S. Naval Academy studying marine biology and heads to flight school this summer. Collin, 20, is a junior at Penn State University studying paleontology.
Reads good books:

she is also reading “Daily Devotions for Diehard Fans: LSU Tigers,” by Ed McMinn.
Lived in Wyoming

Gross-Taylor comes to PSD from the Wyoming Department of Education, where she served as the state’s literacy program director,
Has two dogs:

Her fur babies include her rescue “Tennessee dog,” Misha Joy, or “MJ” for short; and her “Colorado dog” Trippie, an English mastiff.
And this for good measure:

A classically trained dancer, she has taught ballet and coached school dance teams.
I figure somebody in the OT knows her and could provide some more background. Maybe she even votes Republican.

I'm confused.
Are you asking why she's black?
What is this?

She'd look pretty nice with a better haircut

Yes, that is Sharon Lewis

Schools need people like this so your kids do not grow up like you

You trying to justify/critique her position based on her likes? Lifestyle? Looks? Or all of the above.

Sounds like a good hire.

That's the kind of diversity I look for in a school. Which one is it?

What does that mean? I don't think we need a Chief Equity officer position, but if we're going to have to play these woke games then I think we got a great person based on her bio. My post seemed pretty clear.

When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression
She could have been directing that towards black people
It makes just as much sense that way

No, this board seems to have a lot of good information so was wondering if someone out there knew more about her. Not everything has a conspiracy to it.

I’m not sure what’s going on but this seems a little racist
