Anybody here work in the West Texas oilfields west of Odessa?

I haven’t been there very much yet but wondering if anyone has had the pleasure of having to drive those insane 2 lane roads. Hwy 302 west of Kermit has to be the most dangerous road in the US. 18 wheelers won’t let you go under 70mph and it’s usually a wreck every 5 miles or so.
Sat in traffic in the small town of Jal, NM for over an hour because the only road in has a 4 way stop with all that oilfield traffic.
Pretty sure I have PTSD from the white knuckle driving. My company lost 3 superintendents to wrecks there. Not death but hospital bound with one for almost a year.
I will have truck nuts next time just to keep me safe. I think they try and wreck you if yours ain’t hanging from your truck. Plus I drove a car so I’m lucky they let me drive through their territory without injury.
If anyone is offered a job there, be ready. The roads will kill you most likely.
I’m a poor so I have no choice. Anyone know how I can get certified as a “baw” for safety reasons?

The 4 way stop is in Orla tx, get your facts right but what a shithole that area is. I worked some there seeding pipeline ROW this winter.

Moved away from there 6 months ago.
I actually preferred driving at night. Att least if some dumbass is trying to pass in the oncoming lane at the top of a hill, you can see their headlights.
Other than that, hug the right side of the road so you can hit the ditch if need be.
And get a super duty truck, baw.

I work in the DJ, but a buddy of mine is a Landman for Concho in Midland. He's been out there for a little over a year now. Guess he's settled in, says it isn't bad. I don't believe that he honestly believes that. I turned down more money to move to Midland when I was with Pioneer years back. It was a good decision. Denver to Midland is going the wrong way in life.

Pretty sure every little town out there has a 4 way stop but I caught the one in Jal at 7am. Made a detour that way for a former friend. He is a former friend because he didn’t tell me how terrible that place is to drive.
I’m willing to bet that 75% of the fatal wrecks out there involve a welder. Them bastards are worse than the 18 wheeler drivers.
I was also surprised that the desert has fog. About 20 ft of visibility but the welders would pass anyway at 85 mph.
The driving seriously was traumatic. I ain’t above pulling over and crying while in the fetal positions.
