This statement here tells me you never actually studied the Bible at all as you claimed.

If I remember correctly, can’t you even use the Bible in Buddhism in order to reach enlightenment? It isn’t about any one way to reach enlightenment, it’s just getting there.

Visit any Christian church in the Southern US, and you’ll see 3 out of every 4 people morbidly obese.

Clearly the guy you responded to was not being serious. This part of your response shows your own biases.

Most I know aren’t. Of course they can be in your really small southern towns but the younger one’s are much more open minded than their parents and grandparents. It’s just something people on FB and message boards like to post to make them feel better about disliking Christians. Most Christians I know have atheist friends, friends of other religions, etc.

Put down the internet for a day and stop reading posts about narrow minded Christians from people who’ve probably not stepped in a church in decades, and actually go into a well respected church, or most churches, and you’ll find some extremely accepting people. Most churches I know give a ton of money and TIME to nothing but helping the poor and needy, and religion and beliefs doesn’t matter at all.

It’s the monkey brain that makes it hard to meditate. Hum in your head or out loud and you will succeed.

Life is suffering. Life is impermanent.

Buddhism is a nutshell.

I'm Buddhist.

Well, your characterization of worshiping Buddha was incorrect in respect of a large portion of the various strains of Buddhism, so that was ignorant and narrow minded. Then you hit us with the hell and brimstone stuff. Maybe you should spend a little more time educating yourself.

Don't think of studying Buddhism as necessarily "worshipping" the Buddha. It's much more about self enlightenment

This is exactly why I typed that if Buddha recognizes God, then no need to worship him. I can also play your game of rhetoric like this: self enlightenment is selfishness, putting self first before considering others, but I won't because it's not necessary here.

The concept of worship is just odd when you really think about it.

What's the purpose? Is it fear; worship or else...?

Gratitude? Worship doesn't feel like love to me.

This is some truth. Worship is not born out of fear but of devotion, I believe. Worship is not love, but could possibly be a byproduct of love itself.
