Because the same people that think 9/11 was an inside job also think that organ donors will have wealthy people pay to have them murdered so that they can obtain their organs.

I have never heard someone say this before, but I am not doubting there are people who believe this. With that said, what if they kill someone whose organs doesn't match the person they are trying to get one for? Do they continue having people killed until they find the right one?

How does people come up with this shite?

Not able to be an organ donor because of a prior cancer diagnosis.

Just the thought of doctors removing my organs gives me the creeps. I wanna be a donor but I always freak out when that decision comes.

Illness as a juvenile with lifelong negative after effects. Can't donate blood either.

Yep. You could have "DONATE MY ORGANS PLEASE" tattooed on your chest and if next of kin refuses...they won't do it.

I am an organ donor and my husband and family know this.

Good point, I am curious about this too. Why not be an organ donor?

If your inevitable death presents an opportunity to provide another with a chance to live, what reason is there to refuse?

Here's a funny video.

My brother works in transplant surgery.

If you'd heard all the morally dubious stories he has, you wouldn't be a donor. He isn't. I used to be, but changed it after he told me to.

Let's put it this way: your organs are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to the organ harvesting and distribution organizations and the hospital. That creates a conflict of interest with respect to decisions they make. It's pretty damn nefarious. And I'm not just talking about obvious situations like brain death where duh nobody wants to be like that anyway.

I would gladly do it in another country though

I am a donor on my license, but will probably change it. I've come to realize that the medical profession is no more ethical than any other. People are people. If I am being kept alive, I want it to be because they think they can save my life, not because they can harvest my organs.
