I'm so looking forward to this movie. My dad knew him, my brother went to school with his son, I know 2 of his son's.
I don't think they are upset Tom Cruise played him...why wouldn't you want arguably this biggest star in Hollywood to star in your movie?
I hope it is a huge hit and his son's get so much money they can do what they want and provide for their family and never have to work again.
I remember when Judge Polizola sentenced him to the Salvation Army halfway house my father saying, "They are going to kill him."
Prem Burns was the prosecutor on my dad's case and she prosecuted the guys that killed Barry.
I hope this movie does him Justice...Barry is an American Hero...not a drug smuggler. #CIAAgent

His sons were little badasses in their teens and early 20s. That was 20 yrs ago. One is a preacher and youth minister now.

Jody, have you not been offered a movie deal?
Seems like you would have.

I used to date a girl whose family bought his old compound. It is an interesting place to say the least.

I worked with his son in law, that's all I've got.

That's what I was told. Why wouldn't you? Religion for starters.

I used to cut a small airstrip that he landed on in Iberville parish. The owner did time in federal pen.
He was married to the oldest Parsons girl from Brusly. Can't remember her name. Last I heard-and this was many years ago they moved to Alaska. He was a pilot and the strip was in the middle of a cane field on his family property.
Guess I should have read the whole thread first.

I was reading the posts without reading the names. When you said "my dad said they are going to kill him". I was thinking "damn, I can remember my dad saying the exact same thing". Then I looked at who posted. No wonder...
I can remember my Dad saying specifically "Frank Polazola is setting him up to be killed". I'm not sure if my Dad knew Barry Seal but I wouldn't be surprised.

I know his son and daughter in law.

My dad had received jury summons to be on the grand jury against Seal in 1984. My dad was quickly dismissed once they found out that he was good friends with a woman that worked as a secretary for Seal.

I'm best friends with his oldest son....

Very random, but I'll never forget the day that Barry Seal was killed , because my little brother was born the exact same day, later that night actually, about an hour down the road in Kenner... if you believe in reincarnation and that sort of thing, I suppose Seal could have been reincarnated into my brother; while my brother never became a drug smuggler, he has sampled a drug or two.

This is the OT, 95% of people have personal stories about him, the strips, and his family

My dad went to school with him and ran into him days before he was killed. Told me of him taking some of his buddies up in a plane when they were really young. He said he wanted no part of it and passed on it. LOL. From what he tells me Barry was a wild child early on. Nice guy, but wild. I think he got his pilot license when he was like 15 or something.

You are correct, it was Meese not Muskie. Good catch.
