Knew someone that took it. Gave her bad dreams, it seemed.

I know of someone who should be on it, was on it and took himself off. He's a total a-hole without it. I do know of people who've experienced good results. A real low dose of Zoloft has really helped my mother. There are so many depression meds out there that if one doesn't work for you, don't hesitate to try a different one. No shame in it either. It's more wide spread than most people think. Get yourself on the right one. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks again for the support guys. I can admit that I’m in a major rut with my job and need to pick up some hobbies as well. However, the way I feel has been long standing. I’m going to get a full thyroid panel and make hormone panel soon as one poster suggested.

It's a physical problem and not a character flaw. I'm thankful I don't have the problem. You should be too.

shite who doesn't get depressed and anxious? That doesn't mean I need to take a slew of pills everyday for the rest of my life. And what is depressing is our style of life, which is 95% of the people work 40 hours a week for the majority or rest of their lives. We truly own nothing(property tax much?) and paying rent for everything else. We are slaves and once you realize this maybe most won't be so depressed? IDK.

That’s an ignorant outlook. People who suffer from mental illness can’t process or control their anxiety. They have a chemical imbalance and telling them to ‘get over it’ only makes it 1000 times worse. Don’t you think if they could chose not to have debilitating panic attacks that they wouldn’t? Or if they could end the pain that comes with depression by other ways than suicide/hurting them selves?

SSRI-selected serotonin uptake rehibitor. Serotonin is a chemical in the brain that controls mood, appetite, and a handful of other things. These meds help increase the uptake in the brain in people who suffer from anxiety and depression.

I was put on it after my younger brother passed. It didn't work at all for me. The doctors had to swap my meds very fast because it was actually increasing my depression and anxiety. I ended up on suicide watch.

Wellbutrin

prescribed after Katrina for PTSD.

Despised it. Turned me into a zombie IMO. Disengaged and more depressed and anxious than when I started.

I stopped it and started smoking weed again. It works better, for me, than any pill

If your doctor looks at you crazy about the estradiol find another one. I keep mine at about 22-27. I have to take a low dose blocker that's so small I have to have the amiridex liquified at a compound pharmacy to take the small dosage.

Gobto the forums at t-nation.com and read all the stickies by KSman to help you along

So what happens when they try to quit the SSRI's? They get horrible withdrawals from being hooked on the pills from daily use for many years in some cases. I'm not telling people to get over it and that is a stupid assessment that you came to. The point is, that you can't just take a pill for the rest of your life and expect it to fix everything. At some point, you have to identify the problem and deal with it head on. Taking a pill to mask the problem will only make it worse later on.

What you don’t realize is some people can’t do that. That’s like asking somebody with anemia to deal with being tired all day and no having no energy to go about their day. They need a little help. That’s where said SSRIs come into play. If said individual wants to get off them then tapering very very slowly is the best method.
