I know it sucks. Seeing my wife go through it everyday isn't enjoyable. The right combo of meds can make a world of difference though. Find a someone who is willing to work with you trying different dosages as well as medications. She's tried at least 20 different combinations of dosages/meds and finally found a regimen that works for her. She's able to function and actually enjoy life where as in the past she wasn't. Almost like on autopilot.

OP: I took it for about a little over a month for work related stress/anxiety. I had a severe allergic reaction to it, so be careful if your hands and feet start to itch

My thoughts are-
I am currently not on any medication other than for acid reflux and seasonal allergies. Welbutrin is the only anti depressant I have ever taken before or since, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.
-
At first, I really didn't like it. Made me very anxious, couldn't sleep, that kind of shite. I couldn't drink coffee, couldn't enjoy my , just awful in general. A lot of racing thoughts, etc. But I gave it a couple of weeks, and I really felt like I generally felt "great", hard to explain really. I was really focused at work, and got back to regular exercise. Work wasn't so bad anymore. Then I guess it finally built up to critical levels because apparently I am allergic or developed an allergy to it or something in the formula I had. Either way, I am not risking it as I wasn't really taking it for depression, and work has slowed down enough I am doing fine. I did however think it was effective for me while I was on it, once I got over the initial side effects.
Good luck and God bless

-Obligatory I am not a Dr, please consult one if needed line.-

My dad was just switched off cymbalta to sertraline and buspirone.

Hopefully that is the magic combination for him.

Don't give up OP...and whatever you do DO NOT stop taking the meds. If you don't think they work talk to your doctor and they can switch your meds...but they sometimes have to taper you off them first. Abruptly stopping these meds can sometimes make you suicidal.

I see plenty of people doing well on it. There are some alternatives that are pretty good if that one doesn't help. None of them are magic, so don't expect them to be the answer to all your problems, and you should do fairly well.

It did not work well for me. Seemed to give a mean streak. Lexapro is what worked for me.

Thank you for the encouragement guys. I’m going to give it six weeks and then go from there. If nothing after that time period then I will try another.

yes I've had luck with it. Try to remember that the purpose of the medication is not to make depression into happiness, the change is from depression to vitality which is almost always required to pursue what gives you happiness. Therapy (whether you think you need it or not), diet, and exercise are the other aspects that will help you grow and get to the root of the problem. Good luck

ETA: Try different medications, what works for one will not work for another, I did notice I dropped weight, stopped smoking cigarettes, and had vitality from Wellbutrin. All the positive benefits from it were there. I would stay away from SSRI's though, I took prozac with my Wellbutrin initially and I couldn't finish during sex.

I’ve been on it for 11 years now. I take the XL 300 mg. Started off with the 150 but I didn’t feel it helped. I can tell a big difference since I’ve been on the 300. I mean it won’t make you a zombie but I do feel it’s helped me cope with situations better. Good luck man.

Are you taking 300mg in divided doses or once per day?

I just take it once a day. The XL is the once a day version. Extended release I believe is what it stands for.

My wife has been taking a low dose of Wellbutrin for the last several years for her general anxiety. Night and day difference. Completely changed her life.

Most of the illegal ludes have/had no methaqualone in them. The days of 714s are long gone. It is easier to synthesize meth and other high demand drugs and also easier to get the precursors.

Taking it for depression and anxiety. Tired of being miserable. I have been dieting and exercising for a while thinking that would help. Finally gave in and giving it a try. I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety most of my life.

It worked for me the short time I was on it but not for long.

Monday morning drag your arse to your doctor and get a comprehensive thyroid and endocrine panel. Get the t4, t3, tsh. Testosterone, estradiol done.

Make sure they pull the estradiol. If that shite is too high and you are aromatasing then you will feel like crap. Also if your thyroid is underacting evident by low t4 with your symptoms then it might just need supplementing.

Not sating SSRIs don't work. If you truly need them they can help. If you don't you might see some help but will bounce around SSRIs without much success as its not the problem.

Google men high estrogen. And hypothyroid.

Saved my life after I found myself in a massive rut. My wife found a doctor to run hormones on me at 24. Convinced him to run these. Mt endocrine system was fricked after medication killed.my pituitary gland.

I can’t comment on the meds, but wish you the best and urge you to keep fighting.
