Taking it for depression and anxiety. Tired of being miserable. I have been dieting and exercising for a while thinking that would help. Finally gave in and giving it a try. I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety most of my life.

My wife’s been on it for going on 4-5 years. I can tell a noticeable difference once she started it and got into her system.

Edit-she suffers from anxiety and depression as well. The right combo of meds/environment and she is able to maintain her anxiety.

You won’t get many serious answers here.

I’m surprised diet and exercise hasn’t worked for you (or at least well enough) I’m a huge advocate of that. Anyway, medication can be effective but do it in moderation. One thing I’ve personally experienced is not so much depression but pure anger and hatred for a couple of years. After taking about a month off work (I quit abruptly) I realized that it was my employment that caused me such a feeling. Maybe you don’t want to disclose what it is you do for a living, but I completely changed careers. It’s been different financially but I drink significantly less now. Seems to have helped. About 2 years since that and I have a different perspective now.

Someone very close to me got better on a combination of Wellbutrin and Abilify. Everything else she tried either didn't work or had intolerable side effects.

She was vastly improved within a week. She went from profound depression, anxiety, and panic attacks to being calm and fairly cheerful most days, and is able to do things that would have made her frozen with stress just a few weeks ago. She has even stopped taking xanax, which she had to take nearly every day for breakthrough panic attacks. She's a little spooked at how sudden it was, and wary about the effect wearing off, but thankful for the improvement.

Hang in there. Some meds work for some people and not for others. Dont be discouraged. Keep trying until you find one that helps you.

There's a lot of jackassery on the OT, but someone legitimately in need will nearly always find good advice or at least a sympathetic ear.

If you are a smoker, Wellbutrin is sometimes prescribed to help with quitting that as well.

Quit manufacturing in the US. Still available from numerous other countries including Mexico.

You’re right, usually Wellbutrin 150mg is used for tobacco cessation, which is not considered a therapeutic dose. Increase to 300mg or even 450mg for depression and anxiety. I wouldn’t prescribe Wellbutrin to treat mental health symptoms unless SSRI’s didn’t work for whatever reason, but it has been known to be helpful for some people.

Wellbutrin helped me quit the little nervous smoking habit I had. Gained some weight from all the food I was putting down though.

Switched to Venlafaxine (effexor). Worked much better for me.

Props for getting help and trying to make your life better. Give Wellbutrin a shot and see how you do. Work with your doc to reach the best therapeutic levels or move to another med if it doesn't work for you. There are quite a few options now. Consider getting some therapy as well to help you work through whatever in your life is contributing to how you feel. Good luck.
