yup, I stayed four years and graduated. I loved it there, but understand why many people would not go there or like it there. I also had a decent amount of scholarships so it wasnt very expensive.
I likely would not encourage my kids to go there, as I no longer live near Pineville.

Jim, my freshman year was his first year as dean. Let’s just say he ran off a BUNCH of professors who had been there a long time because of his policies. I only was there for two semesters, but let’s just say it only got worse after his first year. Controversy after controversy, bad publicity for the school, until he was essentially forced to step down. From what I’ve heard, the new dean, Dr. Brewer, has been trying to clean up Aguillard’s mess for the past few years. Hopefully he can get the school back on the right track.

Isn't Louisiana College on the original site of LSU?

No but it's close. The original site of LSU is upriver a little bit in Pineville. There's a little park and a walking trail with a plaque there. It's pretty cool.

Also, despite its small size, LC had a few international students as well. I met fellow students from Sri Lanka, South Korea, Finland, etc.

Had no clue that LC ever existed until they went to the college fair at my high school.
Not many people even considered them because many students in my class didn't want to go to a religious school and pretty much all of the degrees they offered were available at other schools in the state that were cheaper and better academically. Plus it was in Pineville.

don't know much about them but they used to have a football program, my cousin's husband used to play for them back in the 60s, must have been trying to avoid the draft, he's Jewish, isn't that a Baptist school?

yes it's Baptist
and yes the football program still exists (see my post on the previous page about a current NFL starter who made it from LC)
Made it to .500 last season

still... that's awful lopsided... was Alcorn chuckin hail mary's in the 4th??? Throw in a mercy knee man!
I actually have an LC football shirt from when I went to a game with my wife. It was a pretty good time. Kinda amusing to see the small college thing... their student section was 6 of the most passionate fans you'll ever see!

looking at the box score is pretty funny
only 2 of the 1st 8 scoring drives were longer than 50 yards
in that... a blocked punt returned 8 yds for a TD... a 1 play, 9 yd drive, a 4 play, 7 yd drive (this drive ended with a 20 yd FG... so LOS on the FGA had to be the 2 yd line), and a 3 play, 17 yd drive
that's 4 scores where the possession started inside the red zone
ETA: Alcorn went for 2 after going up 71-0 early in the 4th... ouch LC

I didn't realize I was out of town for work that day and didn't absentee vote (my bad)
if I had... I definitely would've voted for alcohol
it passed with something like 60% or 65% of the vote

I almost went there and had a lot of friends who did. I'm Baptist so they recruit you hard through the state wide Baptist network. It's a good school but I couldn't get over it being in Pineville/Alexandria area.

it's hard for me to fathom a place so antiquated that 40% of the population does not want the legal sale of liquor
