Absolutely. It’s the same stock probably. That gene pool can get shallow in spots.

Some really good high school sports in that area…much like all of Ohio, but Centerville is currently a power in Ohio sports. University of Dayton is a nice school. Hardcore Basketball fan base!! . If you get a chance, check out a game at UD Arena. Low key a Top 10 Arena in college basketball. Check out the Wright-Patterson museums. That’s a must! Dayton is an underrated city…

Dayton is okay. Easy to get to Columbus or Cincy. Very reasonable housing costs.

Well, no shite. So is Powell and Upper Arlington but all of them are expensive places to live. One Jack Nicklaus is from Dublin.

Been there several times but never lived in Dayton or Ohio for that matter. Just wanted to chime in that there is an absolute kick arse old-German restaurant down the road from the University of Dayton.

All I got is University of Dayton is a Catholic school despite a mundane generic city name

There are dozens of examples of this across the country.

Dave chappelle lives there.

It’s a batshit crazy hippy town. Kinda fun. Right next to uber conservative Fairborn and Wright Patt Air Force base.

Interesting juxtaposition.

I stayed there a few weeks at a time on several occasions while consulting at Wright-Pat. As a Southern baw, I thought it wasn't bad, especially compared to other rust belt cities. Women could be pretty hot.

The only weird thing I ran into talking with some local girls was that they tended to have an immediate negative reaction to southern accents until they got to know you. They said that a lot of what we might call "po white trash" had migrated there from Kentucky and elsewhere south and created a stereotype. It wasn't hard to get past that, but it took a bit of work.

No sane person lives in the city. If you have any money, you want to live south, not Kettering. Oakwood, Centerville, Bellbrook, Springboro, or Beavercreek. Or any of the priors respective surrounding townships.

Cincy has areas as well but southern suburbs of Dayton are better than cincy.

Sounds like the perfect spot for a 2nd home in retirement. In the middle of a lot, 1-2 hour drive to cinci, Columbus, Louisville, Indianapolis, Lexington. Add another hour or 2 and you can be in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh. A lot of nature/parks/hiking/biking. I’d look just outside of Dayton in cedarville/yellow springs area.
Also, make sure to visit the holy land -Athens Ohio.

Was passing through Dayton a few years ago and stopped at the Air Force Museum. If you are into aviation history, this fascinating museum is your place. You can literally spend a whole day there and not see everything.
That’s all I got.

You think Dayton suburbs are better than Cincy’s? Indian Hill, Montgomery, Mason, Terrace Park, Mariemont, West Chester, Symmes, Anderson…
