Oh hell, I guess I'm buying it. I looked at the photo in a thumbnail on some internet news sight. It just seems it looks exactly as you'd see in an animation on a program like Nova. That is the gasses become hyper heated and glow to the point the energy disappears (into the black) because of gravity. It looks a bit like a glowing donut. Yeah, I buy it.

The smartest humans who have ever lived had a disagreement over whether or not God would permit such things to exist. For generations since, we've developed theories and based engineering marvels on the results of something science said exists, but evidence was incomplete. There’s a pretty strong correlation between people who don’t care about the black hole picture since it doesn’t affect their everyday life and people who do somehow care about California gas prices, AOC, migrant caravans, and Banghazi.... even though those also don’t affect their daily life.
