Eleanor Parker, related by marriage,(since divorced) missing from BR since 11/10/81. The Advocate did another story about her a couple years ago.

ETA: I just noticed this is an old thread, that was bumped up by new post, and I may have posted about her earlier.

hinterkaifeck (i hope i spelled it correctly)..... basically a family (and maid who started that morning) were slaughtered. The dad had noticed footprints coming from a forest to his house.... eventually a set of house keys went missing and he (or someone in the family) found a

newspaper that didn't belong. The killer(s) even stayed a few days after the slaughter to tend to the farm animals.

I just spent about 30 minutes reading up on these murders. Yikes, that is a creepy story. Also, the father was abusive and carried on an incestuous relationship with his daughter. I’m surprised no movie was made from this.

The Delphi murders.

Two teen girls from rural Indiana went on an afternoon walk and were ultimately sexually assaulted and murdered.

One of the girls had the foresight to turn on her cell phone camera during the initial exchange, and there is footage of an unknown male essentially stalking them across the bridge and ordering them "down the hill".

It is bone-chilling.

There is video and audio of a potential suspect, but although there have been persons of interest, no one has ever been arrested in relation to the case.

I am an absolute junkie when it comes to true crime, and this is the one case that just makes my skin crawl. Those poor girls.

This was just a more recent interest spurred by another thread here. I didn't remember it at the time.

From other thread
quote:

Faith Hedgepeth case seems like local police mishandled as well. Looking at unsolved murders on Wikipedia I read about it.

Locals took a year to involve state police. They sealed records for awhile which some thought was to hide some mistakes early on.

I remember thinking when reading they were completely overlooking some weird things about roommate as well as roommate's ex. Even after dna was not his or one other suspect with them earlier that night they didn't at time really consider that roommate's timeframe or story wasnt 100% accurate and that DNA not being his didn't mean either wasn't still involved if multiple people involved or timeframe & story of roommate incorrect.

This was insane. I always thought there was a chance her kidnapping was staged and that she took off to another country (I forget the whole situation, but wasn't it believed her husband was living outside the country?).

The unsolved board murder of that mentally challenged kid named OweO in broad daylight on the OT always creeped me out. And how nobody cared because the suspect list was too long and it was never investigated because everybody immediately realized his board murder made the board so much more readable and interesting .

I agree. The friends account of that phone call she got says it all. Why would the bf not be alarmed after he saw two people went back inside the house when they saw him after he knew his gf was sketched out by the people

That one is local for me. I don't know any of the families, but the more eyes (and internet detectives) on this one, the better, IMO.

Indiana State Police page on the case.

As the Visalia Ransacker and some break ins during the EAR phase, he would break into over 10 houses a night. These were not targeted, just crimes of opportunity. His rapes and murders were planned for the most part.

I’ve kept up with the case for a while now (although there’s not much to keep up with) but was it ever actually said they were sexually assaulted? Very little if any details were released about how they were killed and such.

My bad, you're right...it has been widely speculated but never determined that the girls were sexually assaulted. I was thinking that was part of it but has absolutely not been proven. My mistake.

Not really a cold case that’s unsolved but more like a cold case fugitive. I’ve always been intrigued by this guys story for some reason. How this young surfer dude just drops off the face of the earth after committing a murder/robbery is crazy to me.

Yea I’ve read about this case as well. Only thing I can think of is he somehow exited the front by the cameras and he was blocked by someone else perfectly where they just couldn’t see him

I got some notification that new news was expected in the Kristin Smart case so I listened to that Podcast. The case had been cold for over 20 years until a local guy put together the podcast.

It is called "Your Own Back Yard" if anyone is interested.

Sure enough, this week, police went and searched 4 places connected to the main suspect. They seized lots of evidence but no word if they found what they needed to arrest.

I recommend it for Real Crime enthusiasts.

ETA Several new names are being talked about.
