I have a family friend who is presently serving in the US House of Representatives.

He has franking privileges.

That’s stamped out any interest I have in philately, frankly.

local stamp collecting clubs

I don't give a shite about stamps, but I joined our local club--Lickety Split Philatelists--just for access to all the hot chicks.

I used to collect with my dad. There used to be a few stores in Metairie we used to go to, and a few favorite mail-in clubs (this was before the internet).

We have a lot of the US commemorative sets from a span of several years, as well as some old interesting sheet and plate block sets. I enjoy going through them every now and then.

A stamp collecting "male", not to be confused with the legendary Baw.

My grandmother gave me a collection she had. Literally thousands of stamps I have no idea what to do with. Some are dated back to 1800's. Never expected to see this on the OT. So if you could point me in the right direction on getting them valued I would greatly appreciate it bah!

You could probably get the catalog on ebay or a bookstore. You never know with stamps, esp. European stamps from the 1800s. My dad bought a trunk that came from a Belgian estate sale. It had some loose stamps on the bottom, one, as it turns out, worth $23,000.
