A flight attendant I worked with had COVID in June. She said her doctor told her that he’s had it 3 separate times.

Is this proven or bullshite?

Maybe he misunderstood her and thought June was a woman he knows.

I haven't seen a conclusive case of someone having it twice.

Probably are going to have to wait until it mutates enough.

I've caught a cold more than once before, so I'd say it's not impossible

If he really believes he’s had it three times, he doesn’t need to be a doctor.

Possible? Yes
Likely? Probably 1 per a few thousand infections

Immune systems are complicated

It's extremely unlikely. There have been reports of it happening. But when it happens it is probably due to a false positive initial test.

It is unlikely.

I believe the premise is that if your viral load was really low during your initial infection, you may not have built up enough immunity to fight of another infection.

I think.

Someone smarter will probably correct me shortly.

Well there are several different bugs out there that cause the common cold. Why do you think parents dont get the common cold every single time there kid comes home from school with it? Because the parents immune system had already run into that version of the common cold before so the parent has some immunity to it that the child didnt have.

Why wouldn't you be able to contract it again?

Not really.

Especially if its just asymptomatic or mild symptomatic people.

So if I catch a cold more than once in a year, would it be impossible for both to have been coronaviruses? Is it usually you catch a coronavirus in the winter, then you catch a rhinovirus in the spring or fall?

CDC does not have evidence of reoccurrence

quote:

Reinfection with SARS-CoV-2 has not yet been definitively confirmed in any recovered persons to date. If, and if so when, persons can be reinfected with SARS-CoV-2 remains unknown and is a subject of investigation. Persons infected with related endemic human betacoronavirus appear to become susceptible again at around 90 days after onset of infection. Thus, for persons recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection, a positive PCR during the 90 days after illness onset more likely represents persistent shedding of viral RNA than reinfection.

ETA: tl;dr that Dr is an idiot with no proof whatsoever

It is impossible and if it was than we are waiting on a vaccine for no reason.
