I have a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon. She's 26 years old. I got her when she was two. I've had conures, quakers, and I had 10 macaws at one time... Love me some birds. My next will be an Eclectus...hand-fed.

Awesome. One of my favorites at my old job. Male or female?

I want a female. I'd actually like to try and breed them...i never had any luck with macaws though. Eggs...but males never did their part.

They are probably like most males that would own them..... A bottom

Beautiful. Had a cockatiel years ago that drove me batty. I found him/her a new home with a nurse that bred and raised birds.

A cockatoo is the only bird I don't want.
My friend had a Goffin's that used to chase me around and bite my feet. Hardest biters too. But they are beautiful.

For anyone who doesn't believe there are people who love their pet birds...
During last night's WWL-TV 10:00pm news somebody bought airtime and ran a commercial about a missing bird. A picture of a white bird (Cockatoo? Cockatiel?) comes up on the screen and the VoiceOver goes into a spiel similar to the following:
Hi, my name is Baby. I'm lost, I can't find my way home, and my family misses me very much. If you see me, please call (504) 242-xxxx. My family will pay a $1,000.00 reward to anyone who helps me find my way home.
$1,000! They must LOVE that bird!

Never owned a bird, but there was an aviary full of Lories at Busch Gardens (I think it was there) where you bought little cups of nectar and the birds would land on you and drink it. They were the coolest, most beautiful, incredible birds I've ever seen. I almost became a bird owner after that but never did. Had a friend that used to breed and sell Macaws and the like, but I think Katrina put an end to their operation.

I would like to see a bird being affectionate. I had plenty of birds when I was young chickens, guineas, turkeys, ducks never saw any affection they would mob you when you came out with food.

I correct myself - I've owned small chickens on several occasions, but only for as long as they could elude my snake.

Mine actually snuggles up under my chin or against my neck and goes to sleep. They can also speak in context. It surprised the hell out of me when I first started researching them.
