What were your circumstances? Were you being a typical baw living beyond your means or is your story more interesting?

I "Declared Bankruptcy" one time but it didn't work. Nothing happened.

This all happened in June 2011 While Separated from wife and having to put deposit on my own place and pay rent.

Over the years, I've told this story to a few creditors here and there. The look on their face is "oh shite you really did get screwed."

Fast-forward 8 yrs later, I have good credick back in 700s(at 10 yrs the bankruptcy will be off credick and I'll be in 800s), a house and a car loan with the 'good credick' rates.

Bankruptcy sucks balls on many levels.
It's incredibly hard to get approved these days.
It's a royal pain in the arse
It's expensive(yes it costs a lot of money).

I don't recommend it at all unless you got totally unilaterally fricked like I did.

Makes you really appreciate shite.

There were quite a few times back then when I'd be delivering pizzas way out on Harry Savoy Road at 10pm on a Tuesday night(wake up for work at my day job at 5am).
I'd get Frustrated while looking for an address and throw my hands up like 'How in THE frick did I get here?'

Looking back I laugh but.... It sucked BAD.

Easy to look back and laugh now because you earned it, fighting your way out of the situation and back into good credick.

Oh I knew. It was like a rhetorical question. But I'd play it out in my head.

Make good grades in school they said.
Pick a good major in college they said.
Get a good job they said.

I did EVERYTHING I was supposed to do. Except Pull out.

Just kidding. I left wife 1 for 2 and then got left myself. Ah well. shite happens.

The TLDR Message here is
DON'T FILE BANKRUPTCY UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY BEING HONEST WITH YOUR ASSETS AND DEBT AND HAVE NO OTHER WAY OUT.

Those mfers tried to value my little 98 Corolla I bought to deliver pizzas in at $3500 b/c it was a 2nd vehicle. In total disbelief, I went to a mechanic and got him to write up an estimate on my engine and suspension repairs. Cost me $75 to get that piece of paper and take it BACK to the Bankruptcy Trustee so I could get the value cut down to $1200. You have to PAY that shite in full before they will approve your case.

shite like that is example of how hard it is to get bankruptcy approved and signed off on these days.
