Thinking about doing this... I really only watch live sporting events and the other shows can be had on Hulu the day after.

Has anyone done this? How much money did it save you? What service did you use? Recommendations?

Yes

Originally $60/month, but I added HBO Now at $15/month. So $45/month.

AppleTV box for Netflix, WatchESPN, etc.
$50/month for 60/60 MBPS internet

I did it. Bought an HD antenna for basic TV. We watch mostly Netflix.

I did PlayStation Vue during college football season for ESPN channels.

Recently added a 2nd DirecTV package for a converted shed out back. I doesn't save any money, it actually costs more.

So you are leeching this login from someone I assume? Since it is not a standalone service.

It's really only a pain when guests come over and I have to show them how to do everything.

I did this last week. I had the U-verse internet and full cable package and was paying $122 a month. My promo ran out on us (I didn't know we were on one) without them letting me know. My bill jumped to $188/month. I quickly called them and cancelled the tv service. I now have the AT&T internet only and it costs $60/month. Bought 2 more Amazon Fire Sticks and now we basically have everything again (and more) for way cheaper. Highly recommend!

Edit: I also have my Xbox One in our living room and can do WatchESPN from there with my friend's password so I didn't lose any football.

Uh no, you don't have anything similar to what u had on uverse

I realize cutting the cord makes some of you giddy, but the fish stories have to stop.

I looked at vue/sling/etc has no where near the channels i have and want on dish. Not even remotely close, you could add both of those together and it's still many channels short of what i get.

Considering I can watch any TV show from the first ever Cops episode to live stuff and movies in theaters still, I must say you are wrong. Do you have any experience with the Firestick, or are you just making assumptions?

Do you work for AT&T??

to be fair you never mentioned sideloading KODI on your firestick.

You do know they don't come with KODI on them right?

BTW, Firestick sucks monkey arse

Yep did it recently. Saving $75 a month from what I was paying for with Eatel. Only thing I am lacking is a DVR for sporting events.

Yea I added Kodi. I prob should have clarified. Took me 15 mins and a YouTube video. Best thing I've ever done. The only downfall is that it takes a couple mins to get to the show you want.

I have Tablo already. I fudged up and meant to say a DVR for channels other than locals.
