100% yes. They have optometrists there just like LensCrafters n such. Also have legit frames. It's just an eye exam. If they find something, they will refer you to MD

I went to the one on College while at LSU because I needed contacts last minute, and I didn't have a problem. The optometrist was young and cool. I wouldn't buy glasses from there, but if you run out of contacts and need some asap, i do recommend. I believe they took my BCBS insurance as well.

You want to trust your eyes to the lowest bidder.

I knew my contact brand and strength so I knew what I needed. If I remember correctly, he used a computerized thing to check my eyes because he couldn't prescribe without a test. Came out the same as I had expected.

I get my contacts from there and never had an issue. Fast and they typically can see me the day after I call. I need new glasses so I will probably go LensCrafters next round.

Can you just get the script from Walmart and shop elsewhere for the lenses and better frames?

Don't know how that costs-out with and without a vision plan though.

No but I have after leaving there. Human eyes aren't meant to be put in that harsh if an environment.

You're figuring wrong.

But, you should be able to get a good refraction from Walmart. If you're concerned about any potential eye disease, find somewhere else to go.

real optometrist. It's his practice, not Walmarks.

Walmart is fine, unless you have astigmatism or something. I haven't gotten an eye exam in ten years. I just order my contacts and glasses from the UK. No prescription required. You just tell them what's on the box and they send them...cheaper too if you don't have vision insurance.

Box even says made in Ireland.

It really is amazing how people on this board talk about things like an expert when they really don't have a fricking clue about the subject they're talking about.

Yes, you can get the prescription from Walmart and shop for glasses anywhere. I got my eye exam and contacts from a Walmart in Baton Rouge and the contacts were smart brand/type I always get and cheaper than 1-800-contacts.if I wanted glasses I believe I'd shop elsewhere. Thus exam I got at Walmart was possibly more detailed than prior exams I got elsewhere.

Keep in mind it's also the guy that hasn't gotten an eye exam in 10 years.

Here is a story about why you should get those annual eye exams:

Once cared for a little girl in the hospital that had a brain tumor(one that was caught early on and would be able to be easily surgically removed). She was totally healthy before it was diagnosed. Had no symptoms whatsoever. The only way the tumor was even found.....eye exam.

The little girl had fallen and broken her glasses. In order to get another pair her mom had to bring her in for an eye exam. The mother even told me she was upset about the extra cost of the glasses/eye exam from the little girl breaking her glasses. Well the eye doctor saw something odd and referred her to a specialist.....who diagnosed the brain tumor.

Her breaking her glasses and having to get an eye exam....likely saved her life

Also..you only have two eyes....why not take better care of them and get routine exams?

same as any other place . the eye doctor is usually just renting the space just like any other optometrist at the optical places. They dont work for walmart . You'll be fine.

Yes. At the Baker Walmart. Dr. Shameka Jackson does my eye exams. She is pretty decent. She also is a Deli Server and the Car Center Specialist.

This is the best answer. They are great and they keep the riffraff out.
