Yes, but I thought I read that after a certain amount of time your brain will automatically wake you up so that you resume breathing, hence the wakefulness throughout the night? Is sleep apnea a neurological disorder?
The way my dr described it to me, was when you stop breathing you go into a fight or flight mode, your heart starts racing and thats a lot of stress on your heart. That raises blood pressure and could cause a stroke or heart attack.

My symptoms are extreme daytime sleepiness regardless of how much sleep I get,
you are not getting enough complete sleep cycles.
You are not only not sleep long enough, you are not sleeping well enough.
and also- stop doing drugs

Had no idea sleep apnea could be life threatening...and how could it cause someone to lose their leg?
Your body "repairs" itself best while you are at sleep. The crap of apnea (and no you do not have to be fat) is that you think you are sleeping when you are not. If you are "waking" every 30 seconds you never get to REM (usually need 4 hours to hit a good REM cycle) so your body is in constant stress. Blood Pressure, blood sugar, and all sorts of crap start kicking your butt and your lack of REM sleep means you can not fight back effectively.
My bud was not getting sleep, whacked his blood sugar, went into a coma - had his roommate not returned, he would have been dead - but he woke up in the hospital and 1 leg was gone.

Ive been using this app to track my sleep.
LINK /
Not sure how accurate it is but it records my sleep, everytime I snore, cough, fart, or even when I talk in my sleep
I can listen to myself every morning.....It will even tell you when you fall into a deep sleep and when you fall asleep and when you wake up
It even has built in white noise

NO! They don't. Sorry!
Ugh, yes they do. I've had two different psychiatrists in my time and both have done this. I take my Vyvanse around 6am, which means it starts to wear off around 2-3pm. So, I take my Adderall dose then to get me through the latter part of the day.
I don't believe your specialty is psychiatry, is it?

I will never let it go.

I saw your edit in the op, and I think I've said that to you 3 or 4 times in this thread already.

Reading comprehension, much? I asked about experiences with sleep apnea...not my medication regimen.

Since you're sweet about it, how about this...we'll just agree to disagree?

No, I'm not. Where did you get that I'm suffering from insomnia? I don't believe I mentioned that once in this entire thread.

If your mind is out of whack, see a shrink
If your breathing is out of wack, see the best specialist in your area and make sure you get to see them, not some assistant. Problem with modern medicine is insurance companies have crapped it up badly and you need an advocate who fights for you and your life, not an insurance colonies profits.
Single payer does not work, Canada health care sucks
Private payer does not work, US health care gets worse
Best solution is a blend of both with advocates for the patients and self directed care included.
Say, government insurance floor and say 20% of GDP as required budget
Have private insurance to fill in the gaps or cover catastrophic as reinsurance
Have public with force (like the HSA program) to balance both and strengthen the hand of the patient.

I talk in my sleep a lot so it's funny to hear some of the shite I say

I sleep pretty well, I occasionally wake up in the middle of the night, but I don't have trouble falling asleep or going back to sleep after waking up in the middle of the night. I typically go to sleep around 10-11 and get up around 6-7.
And sorry, not trying to sound harsh. It's just a little irritating when everyone on here thinks they're an MD and know better than my doctor and my med regimen that I've been on for over 15yrs without issue.
