Would you say you encounter conventional street fighting a lot, a little, or just sometimes?

Go learn Krav Maga.
It's badass, useful, and has the word maga in it.
So you could defend yourself while wearing your (Krav) maga hat.

I disagree with your post.
I think it is better learning one martial art well. Eventually you will learn enough to handle self-defense in all situations, and then if something new pops up, you can improvise.
MMA doesn't have that power.

Expect to have a lot of bruises that you didn’t realize you had.

I've been off the mat for a few months because of an injury and an unexpected medical diagnosis, but I plan to return any week now. It's an awesome workout without the tediousness that comes with simply lifting heavy objects. Been on and off the mat for years. You'll make fast friends and learn a battle-tested martial art, which will bring you more confidence in all aspects of your life. I'm 42, by the way, and there are people much older than me on the mats. Just go your own pace and don't try to be a world beater. Great proactive therapy against core/back issues, as well.

Studies have shown there are a disproportionately higher number gayboys in jujitsu than other forms of martial arts.
Just remember. The erections are normal and natural.

My uncle is a 7th degree black (red) belt in Kito Ryo Jujitsu and 4th degeee in Judo. His son is a world champion in Brazilian Jujitsu.
I tried but couldn't really get into it.

I started at 40 & absolutely love it. You pretty much have to get used to something always hurting a little bit, but it’s all part of it. The technical aspect of it is incredibly intriguing, and you’ll find yourself thinking about certain situations & attacks when you’re nowhere near a mat. As an earlier poster mentioned, it’s also quite humbling. You could be in phenomenal shape and ripped to shreds yet still get spilt in half by some chubby guy half your size. I highly recommend it. Just do other things to stay strong and in shape outside of BJJ. It will help your game significantly.

I'm 41 and highly recommend it. It keeps me in shape and gives me skills to defend myself. I'm a purple belt at Team Jucao and I plan to train well into my 50's.

Don't be shocked or disappointed if the arse whippings extend past a few weeks.

Yep, first thing I thought, too. As long as you’re training with guys who are more advanced than you, the arse whipping will persist. But that’s how you learn & get better.

Maintain a "workout" plan outside BJJ. Make sure you are getting adequate recovery between classes. Prepare to learn some humility, you can't fake it on the mat.
