How about the guy who put a giant hay tarp over his whole house and then stacked round hay bales two high all around it.

Worked like a fricking charm.

The hay bales took some damage but he essentially just had to unroll the tarp and his house was awesome.

I thought this guy lived near the coast. Doing this in Orlando is hilariously retarded.

The anchored straps would be the only thing left after water washed the house away.

If he’s worried about the roof lift, it would be a lot more effective to add hurricane straps (fasteners) to the rafters. I assume equal amount of time and materials if not cheaper.

The roof held with no loss of shingles.

Casares spent $22,000 for the cement anchors and specifically made-to-order straps that lined the rooftop of the family home which are said to be able to withstand 5,400 pounds of weight.

The ingenius precautions came after the family endured a hurricane while living in Guaynabo on the Caribbean island which saw the aluminum roof of their home almost lift off.
