Tell you what, don't go to that Chabils place over in Pville. They tried talking my wife into an $80 diagnostic charge yesterday because her check engine light was on. fricking crook move.

I changed one yesterday. $12.99 from autozone + a gallon of dex-cool.

They will even print you out the schematics and steps to take.

Only needed pliers and a 13mm box end wrench.

I bought the $3 more expensive one that at failure, will go to the open position.

She needed an oil change and was at the inlaws next door so I told it was probably as good a place as any.

Too bad that one move on their part is enough to make me never recommend them. Charge $80 for something Autozone does for free.

It's free at Autozone, and will usually give you a few possibilities of what can be wrong.

Good shops have equipment that will tell them exactly what is wrong, but you honestly don't need to waste your money on that

Eta: All they usually do at regular shops is plug it into the computer and start throwing parts at it (unless visibly broken)

Googled videos already one looked really hard and had to take a bunch of stuff off and one you had to have some cool looking tools that I don't have.. And plus I'm not the mechanical type..

Called skid marks and they charge 1hr labor for diagnostics which is 107 I believe he said.. He said it would pin point if it was the thermostat or an ect (engine control temperature) sensor..

Quoted me on the thermostat with tax and installation was over 500..

I didn't want to pay that much.. That's not including the diagnostics.. That's if I just say change the thermostat.. It would be an extra hundred on top of the 5 something.. That is outrageous!
