Let me preface this by saying that I have the utmost respect for our men and women in law enforcement. Having said that, how do you explain to people that you are a cop for a fricking bridge? Just seems embarrassing. This thought came to me while traversing the causeway this week so and I figured a few of them baws must post here while they are waiting at the crossover for Stacy to come past at 75mph bringing Brayden over to Jesuit in the morning

Which begs the question, would they be working if it didn’t cost $5 bucks to cross that damn bridge to begin with? Seems like more of a welfare situation. We pay an absurd toll just so they can hire entirely too many cops who then write us tickets and cost us even more money. Just seems dumb

How are they different from other cops? There is a job opening and they apply at take the job.
I'm sure the pay isn't as good as Kenner/JPSO, but I'm sure it's not as stressful.

In general though I think the Causeway Commission as an entity as a whole could go away. They are a big money grab operation.

I also think we don't need levee district police officers either.

Try driving through Emporia VA at anytime; if you want to meet the black Barney Fife speed trapper cop.

I'd rather blow my brains out than have to commute over the causeway every day

At least there wouldn't be much of a mess to clean up.

I've not had to drive the Causeway much during rush hour, but it's way better than I-10 anywhere into and out of Nola or I-10/I-12 around Baton Rouge.

I mean they aren’t much different from other traffic cops. But traffic cops don’t want to actually be traffic cops. They want to do other cop shite but they gotta pay their dues in the department first before they can move up. There is no moving up in the causeway police. They only do traffic

Highway Patrol says hold my damn beer.

No baby mama drama, no lengthy, complex investigations, and most make over six figures inspecting vehicles and escorting pipes.

I'd never live an hour away from the office.

I'd also never work in the shithole known as New Orleans or anywhere on the south shore so having to commute over the Causeway is not an issue.

I remember when the GNO / Crescent City Connection bridge had its own police force. Talk about a waste.
They still have Department of Public Safety patrols though they're part of LSP.

They are known as the Left Turn Police. Every time I see them I think of that puppet talking about Nascar races.

Many of them don't do much more than tickets/crashes and OVWI (dui).
