I wish pickleball will die a fast death. It’s a game made for retirees and old people. Leave it at that.

You can get decent fairly quickly, but there are some serious pickleball players out there.

Unless you were a college tennis player, you are not going to play above 3.5 and do much.

There are also a lot of sandbaggers in pickleball according to friends who go to tournaments. People will play at 3.0 to win the event when they really are 3.5 or 4.0.

I used to play. Just 3.0 though bc I’m old and slow. I quit playing bc I saw people tear Achilles and knees. I just golf now.

Wut?

The number one in the world men’s player, Ben Johns was a ping pong player.

The number one in the world women’s player, Anna Leigh Waters, was a soccer player.

Tennis gives you a head start but it’s not a cheat code.

Your first couple of times are extremely frustrating learning the dumbass rules, but after that it’s a pretty fun sport. Just don’t take it too serious like some people though.

Ok.

Go dominate.

I’m just saying that the high end of pickleball is not a bunch of old people in assisted living.

It's easier than table tennis. You learn quickly that you have to hit it really hard to hit it out. So you can pretty much play the first day you pick up a paddle.

Tennis has a much steeper learning curve. Just keeping a ball in play starting out is not easy.

I hate pickleball. I hate the sound. I hate that it is taking up tennis courts. I hate how dorky it looks to have 4 adults whacking away at that stupid ball inside a tiny little sandbox.

What does "good" mean? Does it mean dominating the 70 years at the local public courts? Or does it mean playing with people who hit with ridiculous hand-talent and precision?

A tennis background will get you a big head start and ping pong can help, as well. Beyond that, it just takes a lot of court time, but the length of time determines how much free time you have in your schedule.

For me, I can't play that often and am a tennis player first, so I just play pickleball for fun, am fine being a very-good-but-not-great player in pickleball, and just try to get some exercise when I'm on the courts.
