I do know of a few people who were able to find out who their dad was. One girl I know grew up knowing the man she called daddy was not her real dad. Her mom had told her she didn't know where her real dad was... When these DNA kits came out she did it and her real dad's sister had done hers so it showed this girl that the woman was her aunt. The woman had one brother.

Then a few months later, her real dad's other kids he had with his wife did the DNA thing and it showed it was the girls half siblings.

I think these DNA kits has given people some information that was once information they were not supposed to find out.

I had some black ladies contact me claiming to be descendants of my GGF in Cornerview, Ascension Parish. Supposedly he sired their grandfather with a black girl. Based on the birth dates, he would have been 12 when he knocked up their GGM, who was 19 at the time. While the tests show us as distantly related, I suspect it was probably further back, during slavery days, as the 12 y/o impregnates a 19 y/o seems far fetched. Several of my Boudreaux/Hebert ancestors were small time slave owners.
