to quote DownshiftAndFloorIt in his reply to you,
the information is extremely easy for you to find regarding
HOW MISGUIDED ENVIRONMENTALISM IS TO BLAME FOR CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES.
some cliff's notes for you on what should've been done to mitigate for this problem are highlighted in bold, and some comments by the messenger are in parentheses. you asked and you have received, but depending on your worldview and whether you believe facts or feelings are more important when it comes to things like, say, biology and botany, then you may not like what the messenger has brought you.
but the facts don't matter anymore, not in 2020. "2020" is what the wikipedia page for "entropy" should say- and that's it.
it's not a joke anymore: states that have been run on feeeelings instead of facts are now literally a dumpster fire.
but at least they saved the trees, and now they're moving out in droves to come and save yours.
quote:and to expound on that, burning is natural across much of the face of the entire planet- especially the lower 48.
Burning is a natural thing out there.

quote:one short answer is adherence to forestry BMP's, or "Best Management Practices," but since forestry involves logging, that's not "do'able" for the envirofreaks. you can read up on BMP's and of the science and the facts about it, but here is a link to a little primer article to help you get started on what should be done, and also, mainly, most importantly, why they're not- especially in the states out west (spoiler alert: the police state will be heavily involved in the plot) It's a primer on why they are not only on fire in the cities, but also on fire out in the countryside, and what should've and could be done (aside from the fact that the city dwelling arsonists are now setting ablaze the vulnerable places where the folks live who may disagree, if even slightly, with their peaceful protests and communistic government-heavy ideologies that caused many of the vulnerabilities in the first place).
What practices would help to prevent this?
HOW MISGUIDED ENVIRONMENTALISM IS TO BLAME FOR CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES.
quote:and to sum it up quite nicely for you, beginning of the quote below from the same rep. in the same linked article distills it down quite nicely as to the basic reason why giant uncontrollable, unnatural fires are happening out there: it's a combination of too many federal regulations being added to by untold quantities of state ones (lulz at the group of people in cali, oregon, etc. who keep voting for more government), coupled with "muuuuh, logging bad, fire bad, internal combustion engine bad."
Rep. Tom McClintock, who represents a northeastern district in California, in a congressional hearing. “Time and again, we see vivid boundaries between the young, healthy, growing forests managed by state, local, and private landholders, and the choked, dying, or burned federal forests.”
some cliff's notes for you on what should've been done to mitigate for this problem are highlighted in bold, and some comments by the messenger are in parentheses. you asked and you have received, but depending on your worldview and whether you believe facts or feelings are more important when it comes to things like, say, biology and botany, then you may not like what the messenger has brought you.
quote:
“There’s an old adage that excess timber comes out of the forest one way or the other. It’s either CARRIED out, or it burns out,” McClintock said in a speech supporting The Resilient Federal Forest Act, a bill that stops the practice of taking fire prevention funds to pay for fire suppression (one main culprit). It also streamlines environmental reviews so that forest managers don’t have to fill out hundreds of pages of documents just to cut down rotting and diseased trees. As of November 2017, this bill was still under consideration in the Senate (remember: dendrology and ecology and science itself runs on feelings, and so the science and its implementation must be considered based off of feelings)
quote:that's the beginners version of what is a fact; dig in yourself if you really want to learn more about them, and who has blood on their hands via radical policies that continue to rule the landscape.
When trees are too close together, they fight for resources. Many of the trees are weakened and become more susceptible to disease and insect infestation. These conditions turn entire forests into tinder boxes. (muuuuh, all logging is bad) A 2017 report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) states that 129 million trees have died in California’s forests since 2010. (muuuuh, they're killing the trees with their mean fossil fuel powered sawblades) The USDA report agrees with Trump — California’s forests suffer from neglect and mismanagement. (CANCEL THE USDA)
In order to cut down trees on private land, property owners must fill out a Timber Harvest Plan and get permission from CAL FIRE (police state...police state everywhere), said Schori. As of 1995, the private sector owned 8 million acres of undeveloped fire prone land, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Yet Timber Harvest Plans were only granted for 3,282,950 acres of privately owned land in 2017. (thank you mr. government man for letting me proactively manage my forest this year. i hate it for my neighbor, but the senator knows what's best)
Air quality control laws also make it difficult for factories and private landowners to dispose of deadwood (nevermind the effect that massive forest fires have on emissions, more on that later). The difficulty these regulations impose may prohibit private owners from effectively managing their land. (there is no "may," they do. too many regulations, by their very nature, impede whatever it is that they're overregulating- like, say, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, even on your own land.)
To prevent fires, both the California’s state government and the federal government need to deregulate logging (lullllz) and encourage the Forest Service to make a profit by selling timber (aka, logging). Until the environmental protests of the 1970s, the Forest Service was one of the only departments in the federal government making a profit. It is a myth that environmental concerns and business interests are always at odds. (feelings, not facts) In the case of California’s forests, thinning the trees is in the interests of both parties. (feelings, not facts) Trump understands this (of course he does), and his administration is expanding timber sales on federal land (gotta get this guy out. faux pandemic, anyone?).
Ironically, these ill-conceived environmental policies designed to ward off climate change have been the source of massive amounts of carbon dioxide pollution. A forest fire’s initial blaze releases 5.2. million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, according to Forest Service ecologist Leland Tarnay. (but muuuh, can't burn that deadwood mr. bad capitalist man. you either mr. evil private landowner) This is equivalent to the amount of emissions from 1.1 million passenger cars in a year.
The Thomas Fire last year charred one of Ventura’s most beloved landmarks: a cross on top of a hill in Grant Park. Miraculously, it still stands. I am blessed that my family members are safe, but there have been some close calls. Believe me, I care about the spotted owl, but I care much more about my sister in Redding, my aunt in Sacramento, my grandmother in Paso Robles, my grandfather in Camarillo, and my mom in Oxnard.
The saddest part about these fires in California is that they are self inflicted. (that's not the only thing) Californians should not allow such mismanagement to continue. (feelings, not facts) At what point will commonsense forest management practices win out over the ideologically driven environmental lobby? (when hell freezes over?) Soon, I hope, or Paradise might not be the only thing lost.

But but but CNN says the fBI claims these arsonist are just rumors. It’s all due to climate change.

Tboy and Nadler says this never happened.

Fake news. Muh global warming.

Arrests for arson have been made, but the FBI, Medford PD, Ashland PD, Douglas, Clackamas, and Jackson County Sheriffs have all come out directly and said there are no ties to Antifa.
I'd love to see some actual proof from the people on here saying this is a leftist conspiracy that would back up their claims.

There are a ton of fires every year in Canada. It stops at Canada because that would be a map of fires specific to the US.
Cool story bro

Their policies contributed to the state of those forests and grass lands. And they swear their policies will fix it.
Controlled burns and careful forestry maintenance emit a lot less into the environment than these fires that spread so rapidly.

the prospect of moving out west has never resonated with me for several philosophical reasons; but it seems it’s hit a whole new level of terrible this calendar year.
I think we are going to see an exodus away from California and Oregon in the coming months, assuming it hasn’t started already.
