If vaccines aren't safe, I'd like to know why they're required.
Don't tell me it's because of money, because people turn around and argue treating a disease is far more profitable than vaccinating against it.

Why don't you list the ones that are unsafe for all of the uneducated folks like myself...

Is it just me, or has the definition of autism been warped over the past several years to include many more children?
Similar to what happened to Attention Deficit Disorder, once the meds started really bringing in the money.

If you vaccinate your kid why are you worried about other kids? What's the big deal about measles? I had both kinds.

Care to put your money where your stupid mouth is and name off some safe and unsafe vaccines?
Hey, you're smarter than the rest of us so providing some evidence can only go well for you.

Has there ever been an adult, say a refugee who came here from a third world country, who got the MMR vaccine and became autistic?

Some diseases don't kill you per say but its puts down your immune system and puts you at risk for further complications and other infections.
Others already have compromised immune systems and have died from the complications of some of these diseases

Measles affects about 20 million people a year,[3] primarily in the developing areas of Africa and Asia.[6] No other vaccine-preventable disease causes as many deaths.[11] In 1980, 2.6 million people died of it,[6] and in 1990, 545,000 died; by 2014, global vaccination programs had reduced the number of deaths from measles to 73,000.[8][12] Rates of disease and deaths, however, increased in 2017 due to a decrease in immunization.[13] The risk of death among those infected is usually 0.2%,[5] but may be up to 10% in people with malnutrition.[6] Most of those who die from the infection are less than five years old

quote:Do you think the vaccines that are routinely given haven't been proven effective and safe? Do you have any fricking idea how many man-hours have been put in by many people much more knowledgeable than you on the subject? And you think you can just Google some shite and figure out which information on the fricking internet is right and which is wrong?
Most (including me) research and determine WHICH vaccines are effective, necessary and safe.
quote:Abso-fricking-lutely not! One class recognizes that decades of medical science has eliminated diseases and prevented outbreaks of seriously bad shite, and the other class is a bunch of fricking morons.
If you allow your kids to be vaccinated with every vaccine thats offered, you are in the same category as the people who think ALL vaccines are bad.
quote:
And the "herd immunity" argument is bullshite.
If you were only choosing to harm yourself by being an idiot, nobody would have a problem with that. But by choosing to not vaccinate, you are putting OTHER PEOPLE at risk, including but not limited to people with compromised immune systems and young children.
Herd immunity is the ONLY reason vaccines are as effective as they are! No vaccine is 100% effective. Some are less than 90% effective. But if a vaccine doesn't protect 1 out of 10 people, those other 9 people that the unprotected person interacts with being vaccinated goes a very fricking long way toward protecting the unprotected person, as well.

quote:I wouldn't say "warped", it's more that people who would have in the past been labeled "slow" or "special" are today more accurately diagnosed. So it's not that more kids today have autism than in the past, it's that it's more often diagnosed. But some idiots saw a chart of the "rise of autism rates" and saw a correlation with the rise of vaccine use. They never learned that correlation does not equal causation.
Is it just me, or has the definition of autism been warped over the past several years to include many more children?
quote:Now I do think that money influences pretty much everything, and I think that doctors make a lot of money overprescribing meds. But it's not like docs are going around finding people to prescribe shite to. People go in because they know they have a problem, and it happens that the solutions cost money.

quote:No, chicken pox isn't the plague, but of course it is probably the mildest of the diseases that we vaccinate for. Still, about 100 people used to die of chicken pox every year in the US. That's not many out of the millions who got it, but it's still 100 more than zero. The vaccine has knocked the death rate down to a handful per year. More than 2,000 people are alive today who would otherwise be dead, thanks to the chickenpox vaccine. Kind of hard to overstate that IMO.
as time has gone on people have really overstated how bad these diseases actually were.
They were not the f’ing plague.
quote:Yeah, this was still a thing when I was a kid in the 80s. If you knew they were going to get it eventually, might as well get the misery over with. But now we have a vaccine that gets it over with without the misery, and we save 100 lives per year (just in the US), too.
Hell there was a Brady Bunch episode on the measles and parents intentionally used to expose their kids to chicken pox so they could get it over with.
quote:Tell me about it! This epidemic of clean sheets and mowed lawns must end!
If folks were really worried about outbreaks then they should be much more concerned about who we are letting into our country.

How many people have been harmed by the chicken pox vaccine over the same span? You mentioned 2000 people are alive bc of it and I assume you are basing that over 20 yrs (100/yr x20). For that # to be relevant then you have to factor any serious injuries/deaths are associated with getting the vaccine.
Given the ENORMOUS # of people receiving the chicken pox vaccine over 20 yrs, I would think that serious injury/death would probably be a comparable #.
Don’t get me wrong, Chivken pox is a pain in the arse disease. I remember having it. I was miserable for a week and I’m sure my parents were too since my two brothers had it at the same time. But there was never really any worry of serious harm.

You typically don't take newborns out in public anyways, unless you're an irresponsible dumb arse. Especially baby's under 2 months old (which is when they get pumped full of poison). After that since you baby is vaccinated what do you have to worry about?
