Considering DOM was passed & signed into law while Clinton was President (signed by Clinton the September before 1996 election). I am guessing this was really voting against the attempt to repeal DOM not for it back in 1996.
Not sure how Religious Right fits into not repealing a law signed by Clinton (I think Clinton did the Don’t Ask Don’t tell policy) that then couldn’t be repealed by the overwhelming Democratic Congress in 2009 and then failed again in another attempt in the Democratic Senate in 2011. Democrats including Barney Frank opposed using Congress back in 2009 as they feared backlash from some of their base and wanted to push through the courts instead as cover.
Seems pretty inline with Democrats at the time.
Edit: It looks like people have been trying to out him since at least 2009 but this might be first photo or proof. The gay mafia justifies going against their don’t out anyone policy for people who vote or support issues they consider to be anti-gay, so the need to push he voting with Religious Right even though he was voting same as a lot of Democrats.

From the playbook of Larry "wide stance" Craig.

doing that in public is gross no matter if you're gay or straight

Conservative men are hypocrites, especially religious right.
Conservative Women carry their bible in their garter belts.
Liberals are still losers though

Former or not frick that hypocrite.

What part is hypocritical? You seem to be saying that a gay must favor Progressive policy prescriptions or he’s a hypocrite. That’s asinine.
Did he ever actually disparage/mock/demean gays or homosexuality for political gain ? If he did that, he’d be a hypocrite .

Not to mention, voting that way doesn't make one "anti-gay".
Maybe he liked having an excuse to not get married, and wanted to avoid the draft if it ever came back.

Shocker.
Some of the most anti-gay people are flaming because they hate themselves.

Not every gay person has to agree with gay rights
