Well to be sentient is to experience subjectivity

That depends on how you define sentience? For much of our history we have largely dismissed and ignored the actual and emotional intelligence of other animals. If we're talking just humans, it is believed that a mutation in the FOXP2 gene is what allows us to speak.

Do the deaf rely on FOXP2/speech for communication? Bees have well documented communication patterns despite a lack of verbal language. What about interactions with people speaking unknown languages? That’s still possible, most human communication is nonverbal.

Somewhere between 13 billion years ago and now, we are believed to have developed a conscience, at what point in evolution do you believe this happened?

Some primate ate some magic mushrooms, it pried open his third eye and voila, sentience, consciousness and Planet of the Apes.

So do you believe primates are actually evolving through the stone age now?

Some of them are way past stone age.

conscience

That’s that whole voice in your head telling you right from wrong—symbolized by the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. I think the word you meant is consciousness—the awareness of our own individual existence. “I think, therefore I am” and shite. And that, my friend, may be better answered by the philosophers, theists, amd even poets, rather than anthropology.

Conscience is an inner feeling or voice, which ties into free will and the difference between right and wrong, which also brings into questions morality

Maybe we can help evolve primates and do genetic modifications and turn them into brutes. We can then start our own space-faring covenant; Man, Ape, and Canine.

What an honor to read the thoughts of some of the greatest minds in the world, right here in this thread on the OT.

To answer your question though, we developed sentience exactly 3.5 million years ago.
