re: Anthropologists, at what point do you believe we became sentient?

quote:Please forgive me. I should not have said that. There are many real Christians from across Christianity (Catholic, EO, and Protestant).
Breaking news: This Christian thinks they are the REAL Christian, not one of those fake Christians. HIS version of Christianity is the REAL one.
I simply meant that I am blessed to have a better understanding of the consistencies within Christianity than most Christians do. I've done many years of study, and I am in formal study currently. It makes a difference. To deny that would be absurd.
Most Christians are 95% feeling and emotions and 5% "thinking". I know you laugh at that because you can't possibly join "thinking" with "Christianity" but that's ok.
Just take a look at this page and tell me there's no logic and consistency to it. If you listen you might just find out what you didn't want to find out.
Also, even from the outside, you could compare denominations and conclude that one of them is more consistent than the others.

Another absurd take. Some of the finest philosophers of all time were Catholics/Christians.

Maybe the brain evolved to RECEIVE consciousness? It could be an undetected force within the universe that we haven’t discovered.
Interesting thought. If so I wonder what opportunities could arise if we learned how to master it more and bend it. Like learning its make-up and how to detect it then use it as we see fit.

one is either a Christian theist or an atheist
Wow! You don't seriously believe that, do you?
Please tell me that you are not a teacher.
To me, it's somewhat unsettling to think that you may have some influence of young impressionable minds other than your own spawn!

1) That I'd ever try
2) That if I tried anyone would understand
And just because you don't know the Biblical meaning of an atheist doesn't mean that the answer I offered is false.
I think that if you have any intelligence or intellectual honesty at all, you could read the verses below and say, "Oh, ok. I see where he's coming from."
quote:
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Romans 1:18-23
quote:
14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:14
quote:
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:5-8
Do you at least understand the dichotomy between believer and non believer as laid out in Scripture or are you going to be obstinate?

I don't have to concern myself with anything that appears in "Scripture". I know the reason they were created.
Answer the following question and try to do so honestly and rationally: What makes you think that the religion you believe so strongly in (one of a multitude of religions that have been practiced in the history of mankind) is the truth?

You're really dumb, or you don't care to honestly interact.
I'm not asking you to believe Scripture is true. That should be clear.
I'm asking you to acknowledge that if I believe Scripture is true than I have the right to believe that there are only theists and atheists.
I want you to acknowledge that my binary option is the only option that the Bible grants. I don't care about anything else.

I have 1 semester of anthropology. Steve Rehage and Terry Belle were in that class.

Technically he’s right. Even if it was only 10 thousand years, that’s still within the last 13 billion years
