Ice core samples are used to measure CO2 concentrations, not temperatures.

So explain why the economies and standards of living of the West should be decimated to MAYBE prevent between a .5 and .6 degree Celsius increase in global temperature over the next 100 years.

100 years from now we will have massive CO2 scrubbers and other technology to make net carbon output 0.
May even be able to suck CO2 out of atmosphere that is already there.

What’s even more funny is that we are one volcanic eruption away from another ice age. If we get another Krakatoa tomorrow, I wonder how the narrative will change?

Was talking to a friend of my brothers last weekend, he had just gotten back from a trip to Antarctica where he was working as a researcher
I don’t remember the exact details but he said there was an area that had pretty mild temperatures on the coast. They have a “town” set up there with bars, shops, etc for the researchers. Actually looks like that is where this temp was taken. He didn’t make it sound like this area was ever ridiculously cold, but he was only there during the summer.
Anyway just some perspective on temps down there, which can vary greatly across the continent.

Plate Tectonics checks in. Antartica was part of a single land mass known as Pangaea and at one time had a subtropical climate because it was further north than it was now.
