Another terrible wreck on the Swamp Bridge

West bound a couple miles before Whiskey Bay. Pickup truck looks like it got spun around and smashed up. Couple hundred more feet and a sedan is crunched up hot dog style against the right lane guardrail.

It was crunched in from both sides. Like when you fold up a hot dog bun
Car looked about 3 feet wide sitting there

Yeah, I don't think that's a thing.

It's how they teach kids to fold paper in school these days. Niece has been over a bit using the wife's crafts for various projects. Hamburger style is top to bottom, hot dog style is side to side.
So sorry to completely derail the post with a kids phrase

Driving in a straight line must be the hardest damn thing in the world

Spent most of the week in Houston-watching local news every morning and they have fewer traffic incidents during the morning commute than BR does. Same for when I travel to LA or Chicago. I think there are a variety of factors causing this, but I can say almost unequivocally that the number one cause is the low IQ of our drivers. It's also why we lead the civilized world when it comes to rubbernecking. Smh

Apparently a sedan was turned into a hot dog and the drivers pants contained the chili.

Short stretch of red past Ramah

I was directly behind the one that shut I10 down at Essen Tuesday morning. The lady that caused it was on her phone, traffic in front of us checked up and she looked up and went from the middle lane to the right lane without looking, side swiped another car and took a hard left in front of everyone, hitting a few cars before she hit the divider head on.
One person not paying attention, wrecked 8 cars, flipping one and injuring at least 3, including herself.
ETA: the at fault driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt and ended up on the passenger side of her car with a bad concussion and no telling what else.

This is no great surprise to me in the least. That bridge is the absolute most dangerous stretch of interstate in the state, bar none.
Just yesterday I was coming back from Laffy and encountered a big truck in front of me that had a blow out or what have you and began bellowing smoke and couldn’t see 2 feet in front of me and no place to go. All I and the car next to me could do is slam on the brakes and hope nobody hit us from behind. Then as I’m getting on the bridge some random lumber that fell out of someone’s vehicle/truck are exploding on the road in front of me as people are running over them and they are flying all over the place about to take out car windows and the like. That was just yesterday. It seems every time I drive that stretch of road I witness some kind of human chaos. I’d attribute it in part to the amount of commercial traffic that travels it quite unsafely at times, and also just dangerous people who do really stupid shite on the reg. Anyone who drives it should not be the least bit surprised when they hear there’s yet another wreck that ties up traffic. It’s fricking dangerous.

It is a perfectly straight, flat road with no traffic entering or exiting; the road itself is pretty damn safe. People tailgating is the main problem.

I passed it at around 5. looked pretty bad.
I drive it every day and there are always commercial big rigs doing 65 or 70 mph in the fast lane and trying to squeeze in to traffic. I never see a policeman pulling one of them over, it is always personal vehicles. Anytime I see a trucker speeding on that bridge with a "how am i doing" number on the back I call and report it.

Troopers have been MIA lately when it comes to spend enforcement. Seems like I rarely see one with radar.

I don't know how people commute over the bridge every day and keep their sanity.
