Can confirm, it is a 1st rate shithole. Baldwin county is nice, but theres almost nothing good in Mobile. Spent about 4 years there, with a year and change being in Baldwin county. So much nicer over there but it's a bitch on 59 during beach season.
Had Wentzells in Bham last week which reminded me of the area. Need to come visit, but not stay.

I havent gone through either of those tunnels in years. 10 minutes up 65 and across the bridge will save you an hour.

I'm in my mid 40's. If this thing is complete in my lifetime, my trips to the beach will probably be few and far between by that point. They can shove the $3-$6 up their arse. But I doubt it will be finished in my lifetime.

Bridge construction won’t start until next year and won’t be complete for another 5-6 years. Tolls won’t start until the 2 billion dollar bridge is completed.

Well then I don’t know why they call that section a “freeway” there ain’t nothing free flowing in that section on a weekend summer day.
My only problem with the bypass to the north was why they couldn’t control access the entire stretch especially on the Mobile side.
I took the scenic northern route and got stuck at a few lights after crossing the bridge.
That is about as good as Louisiana traffic planners.

Reminds me how arse-backward my old state is and the excuses people make to not use tolls.
