I had 2 friends who were in this frat when I was at LSU back in 1980. Neither were Catholic or from NOLA and were among the few frat guys I could tolerate for long periods of time (I had a low tolerance for juvenile behavior coupled with arrogance).
One became a Vet and is now a professor at LSU and one is now a banking executive (nobody saw that coming
). Still keep in touch with those guys.

It’s cracks me up how threads like these being out the guys that have such unreasonable anger towards frats. I wasn’t in one but most of my friends and roommates were in college. Why do some of you care so much?

Nope. It's a racket. These days the kids are basically paying their nationals to breathe down their necks and prevent them from having fun. I know that statement will be looked at differently because of the recent death but as a whole that's what it's like now.

I was absolutely shocked that we weren't allowed to smoke weed or take drugs in the house. I wanted an Animal House type experience but it wasn't to be

I believe it is one of the very few (if not only) fraternities founded by Masons.
It is my understanding that they have almost zero connection between them anymore. But the cornerstone of the house at LSU was dedication at a Masonic function - the Square and Compass should still be visible (unless the guys destroyed that too when they were suspended from canpus).
I always thought a true Masonic fraternity on campus could be a neat idea. Would be difficult to implement though.

When I was there in the 90s they were pretty solid in numbers and rep, just a notch or two on the nerd side. Chicks seemed to like them and they did well in rush. Actually the kind of chapter you'd want your kid to pledge because they were good without being too wild.
