might as well start shooting people over speeding tickets now. cops are just enforcing the laws, right?

TIL throwing a rock is a death sentence.

Perception is reality. You don't know what the cop perceived, therefore, its unfair to immediately say he did wrong. Its easy to judge from a safe little computer while having all the time in the world to weigh in the circumstances.

They just don't get it. If he never threw the rock, nothing bad would have happened. You cannot throw rocks at a cop.

No, you don't get it. Just because you assault someone does not give the assaultee the right to kill the assaulter unless there are circumstance therein that cause the assaulted person to fear for his or her life or for the lives of others.

The only danger to any lives in this instance occurred when the cops opened fire in a populated intersection on a guy they could have easily subdued.

Either you are willfully being obtuse in an attempt to troll the thread, or you are an absolute, unequivocal idiot.

Obviously, throwing rocks at a cop, or in this instance cops, is a good way to get your arse thrashed while being handcuffed and hauled to jail. But an arse kicking for your stupidity is a hell of a lot different than death for your stupidity.

This is textbook excessive force and you ought to know that.

It's easy to pass judgement until you are placed in what could potentially be seen as a life or death situation. Not many people will just stand tall in a hail of gunfire or a knife fight like in the movies

I agree with this, but at the same time I'm not trained to do it. If I had all day every day to practice the craft of protecting and serving, I'd expect I'd be pretty good at it.

Well at least it sounds like you are accepting reality. Deal with it.

don't be a cop if you can't safely remove a threat without firing randomly with innocent bystanders around.

Loved that they cuffed him. He could have been faking dead and popped up and starting throwing rocks at any minute.

Well... we just saw a video of what the cop perceived, so what the frick are you talking about?

If you are so willing to have people killed in the streets by police, please go live somewhere in Africa. I, for one, am not okay with it. Police should be able to show far, far more restraint than that. Period.

The bottom line is if the individuals who killed the "rock thrower" were not wearing a badge, then they'd be in jail.

You can't shoot someone who's throwing rocks at you. That's not the way life works.

These guys should be imprisoned.

Training is important, but I don't think there's a person on earth who isn't afraid of being shot

Maybe that guy isn't a fit for the job. You may be 100% right. I'm sure there are departments all across the country that make hiring mistakes.
