1.) You don't understand the meaning of an expression you are using incorrectly:
2.) I can't speak for ALL classrooms but the many I've been in during the last several years (my company does computer work for the school board) is full of teachers who don't know what the frick they're talking about or how to control and lead children.
So, yes I have a problem when they want to get paid more than 40K for about 8 months of work per year.
On top of that, if that weren't bad enough, the school board, like all government, has plenty of money, they just misappropriate it. How many schools now have been outfitted with these expensive smart boards? Is that going to help students learn anything? No. Firing all these fricking worthless teachers, and raising the pay to something substantial to pay qualified people might do something, though.
So, let them keep bitching and getting pay raises. When it reaches a certain point, educated qualified people will take all their jobs then they can go get in the welfare line and continue to be a drain on our society.

Two great points.
Most of the teachers I know were not cut out for business school or medicine but wanted/needed to get a degree/job so they ended up in education.

People don't just randomly complain about teachers. They complain only with all the protests that teachers unions do and when teachers do so much bitching about their job. Teachers bring that complaining you're talking about on themselves.
I have no problem with teachers getting the time off and SOME deserve WAY more money and their time off. I've had great teachers and I know some great ones. But sadly there are ones that are in it just because of the time off. If you're in it just for the paycheck and time off you don't deserve any more than "babysitter" pay. But the ones that care and push their students and put in more hours than required need more.
Somehow pay needs to be adjusted to recognize those teachers and maybe it will weed out the lazy ones.
