Animal Talk with Pecker: The Serval

Beautiful and deadly, this furtive feline prowls and stalks in anticipation of a magnificent explosion of speed and athleticism. With its regal coat and streamlined physique, the Serval represents the wondrous effects of natural selection, as it thrives among the savage beauty of the African grasslands.
Recent DNA tests show that the serval shares a close genetic relationship to the caracal, another magnificent creature we’ve covered here at Animal Talk. Despite its spotted coat, it is more closely related to the cougar than to the similarly coated cheetah.
The serval’s distinct features allow for a unique blend of speed, stealth and leaping ability. The svelte serval can weigh up to 40 pounds and, relative to its body size, has the longest legs of any cat. Large servals can reach nearly 30 inches at the shoulders. Males tend to be larger and more muscular than females, possessing the ferocity and agility to elude or, when necessary, combat larger predators. Soy boy servals do not exist in the wild, because unlike human civilization, nature punishes the physically weak with violence and death.
Servals have a wide range of distribution throughout Africa but tend to avoid rainforests and exceedingly dry areas. They thrive in regions offering the cover and camouflage of reeds and tall grasses. It is most commonly found in the Sahel and Southern Africa.
Unlike most medium-sized cats, the serval is active hunting and stalking at all times of day. They are almost entirely solitary, with interaction outside of mating season. Servals tend to avoid physical altercation and use their speed to evade larger predators such as wild dogs and hyenas. Servals do possess the ability to defend themselves when cornered, using their reflexes and agility to avoid damage and counterattack. Servals have been observed escaping confrontations with cheetahs and other large predators. The serval can reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour on the open run, making it the second fastest cat after the cheetah. Their prey consist mostly of rodents and birds but they can also hunt larger prey such as flamingoes and small antelope.
May what you’ve seen here today never be forgotten. Tell your friends and family that the serval lives and that we must protect it. Tell them that Pecker is back, and in incredible physical shape, and that he's still reporting on the dopest animals on the planet.
The splendorous beauty, strength and erotic essence of the serval serves as a reminder that nature is the ultimate artist, painting the violent African backdrop with one of the world's most marvelous creatures.
Join me in celebrating the Serval.

i wonder about the small population that is separated in morocco. possibly an escaped captive population that now roam wild, similar to the hippo population in columbia?
look at the area in morocco. basically a barren wasteland. there cant be much to survive on here. remarkable existence of a remarkable being.

Where you been baw?
There is a guy who brings his serval to the Chattanooga market occasionally. He gets super pretentious if you ask what it is or, god forbid, you misidentified it.
