Not so sure you do. See MD reimbursements for more clarity. If you think the practitioners are who is bilking you, you truly lack a basic understanding of healthcare. Also do a bit of research on what the insured are paying versus the self pay....

Technically most of you aren't paying shite for the services and that is part of the problem. The fraudulent documentation was a problem but the bedside manner was not worth 500K. That is yet another problem. An insurance company will pay this and rates will rise...
Right. I guess my insurance premiums skyrocketing is just my imagination.

I assume you are in healthcare or on the fringes.
You don't seem to have a clue about what the majority of consumers and companies pay for healthcare.
Yes, I'm irritated. 7% increase this year.

I'm sorry that the docs you bill for told you that you couldn't have a raise this year because of decreased reimbursements. I'm sure they are concerned about your welfare while their multi-six figure pay remained the same or increased.

I don't work for MDs but I feel alot of empathy for highly educated under paid individuals that come out of school with 400K in debt...all while insurance companies raise your premiums and ignorant dumb asses like yourself blame the MD even though it has far more to do with US policy than medicine. Also if you are so concerned with increases in rates are directly impacted by litigation. Thereby this incredibly unnecessary payday (amongst others) will cause your next jump in premiums not your doc...

1. Physician reimbursements are down for most billed codes, and in most settings (office, hospital, etc).
2. We all pay more through higher premiums to cover the uninsured.
3. Our higher premiums aren't getting us better care or more care.
4. Our high deductible plans inhibit us from even seeking service at all.
5. 7-15% increase in premiums, plus lower payouts to providers is what covers the uninsured, and of course..........
6. The very very high pay of insurance CEOs, their multimillion dollar bonuses, and severance and retirement packages that run into the tens of millions of dollars.

Oh, so your husband is a Dr,
Got it.
Nobody is blaming the doctors for the sole rise of health care costs increases, but they are certainly resistant to office technology. Most offices are just now using email.
They are irritating as hell to deal with. The excuse? " I just wanna practice medicine".
Well, then don't be a business owner.

Yep. Most doctors have zero business sense or people skills.
Posted on 6/24/15 at 8:04 pm to thesoccerfanjax
I wouldn't say they have zero people skills.
But knowing how to help sick people doesn't always translate into running a business that knows how to help sick people.

Is it that hard to fathom that maybe you are wrong? I am not married to an MD....I work in healthcare and watch the consequences of bad policy unfold daily. I am not directly impacted fortunately. My pay does not rely on reimbursements.
If you want to change it, talk to your spouse about end of life issues. Put down the fried chicken, beer and cigarettes and try exercise. Don't expect surgery, dialysis and life saving measures at 95. Those preventative measures will save us a ton. If you are that hurt over the current state of medicine feel free to call your plumber for the next colonoscopy or push for social medicine.

They'll all lose licenses and the malpractice insurer will pay at least a million. I have seen cases not this bad that paid more. Not all of that will go to the guy though.
Malpractice is capped. But malpractice is something done wrong during a normal standard of care. Lying and doing fraudulent charting is not part if the standard of care. especially when intentionally malicious activity is done.

How did a man that sued and won rightfully turn into your rant about people eating fried chicken?
Posted on 6/24/15 at 8:15 pm to jennBN
Yes,, you clearly rebutted my pointts.
Doctors and poor office management aren't even a factor in the equation.

How does a doctors office determine a reimbursement or your cost for insurance?

Everybody pays for inefficient crap.
You were right about one thing-insurance pays out more claims, premiums go up-for everybody.
Your primary mis-statement was about insurance costs. Consumer and business owners bear the brunt of this and we pay for the uninsured, far more than doctors. And honestly, most Americans are insured. If you can prove otherwise, I will retract my statement.

Most doctors are poor business people. But "email" isn't going to fix it. In fact, every practice I know that has switched to EMR has seen lowered revenues and higher expenses. I have no qualms with technology, but it damn sure doesn't make a busy practice more efficient. What's driving costs up are ever increasing administrative demands on us. Coding and billing, referrals, prior approvals for meds, etc. It's fricking insane. I've been in practice for 12 years and the paperwork has increased 10 fold. Guess who has to hire people to do that shite? Me. Guess who has to pay for it? You. Meanwhile the insurers are buffered because they can just increase your premiums and freeze/cut reimbursement. Doctors being more efficient businessmen won't do jack shite. In fact, it's probably saving the system billions from underbilling/coding, free care( sometimes easier to just do something for free cause the paperwork to get paid is shite) and failure to work up denied claims.

Sorta on topic...
It is crazy the # of kids these days that come out of med school that think they can just open their own practice and do great with the shite modern day entitlement attitude they have, at least that was my friends a few years ago...
Personally, I hope this practice doesn't get hit hard, but when you lay down with dog employees.. you get up with fleas
