sinusitis is so bad" Yes, it is. After chronic sinus for all my life and two surgeries later, I know what I need to not have to suffer for weeks.
If you legitimately had a bacterial sinus infection, they would prescribe you an antibiotic. Especially the ENT. That’s their specialty.
So apparently you don’t know.

And if it’s viral, an antibiotic doesn’t do anything.
and my 4 year old had strep and our script was passed to 5 different CVSs and we ended up having to travel 40 miles to get it once they found some a few months ago... absolutely terrifying, I hope this thread is proof that Doctor's are starting to cool it

The hispanic markets around here have some under the counter, assuming you know how to speak Spanish and don't look like a narc.
That said, listen to your fricking doctors. Don't make super bugs.

Genius, you have allergies which you're not treating, which causes run of the mill clear sniffly nose snot to start backing up. Learn to clear the snot early (or prevent it with antihistamines, you won't get sick.
Get the Sudafed or Mucinex that is behind the counter. You need pseudoephedrine as the active ingredient, the over the counter stuff does NOT work.

So for 30 plus years I get amoxicillin to knock out my sinus infection in 5-7 days, but now I have to be sick for 3-4 weeks?
Sick of hearing the lecture.
or maybe the doctors understand that a sinus infection is almost always viral and antibiotics like amoxicillian wont help a viral infection?

I know people that have googled the classic symptoms of chronic sinusitis and then called Teledoc and got meds. Stick to the symptoms and put on your best sickly voice.
Lie to your doctor to end up paying tor a prescription that won't help. fricking brilliant.

are netipots that common of a thing? never tried one or had anyone I know talk about using them. I always just thought it was disgusting and had no idea whether it really provided any benefit?
Not criticizing. I just want to know if Ive been out the loop this whole time or are their popularity increasing lately?
In any event I've never had a sinus infection really bother me after 3-4 days. Weeks seems insane to me. Only care about antibiotics if docs prescribe them but certainly dont go asking for them. Steroid shots help me feel better in a day or so by alleviating the symptoms caused by fighting the infection. (at least i think that what they do but i have no idea)

Dentists hand out Amoxicillin prescriptions like they are Halloween candy.

So two docs have told you that you don't need this antibiotic...why do you want it then?
Have you tasted that stuff? It's a frickin' delicacy.

Same exact thing happened to me week before Christmas. Terrible sinus infection and that mofo refused to give me basic antibiotics. I won’t be using the Lake Urgent Care in St. Amant anymore.

That’s actually not true, the last peer reviewed big sinus study done at Emory determined that 90% of the sinus infections in its study were in fact fungal infections, not viral at all. Of course, this was a total accidental finding as they were looking at nasal cavities associated with serial sinus infections or something. The medical establishment’s response, ……..basically not a GD thing.
My Ent was aware of it and called it interesting.
That actually explains why we can’t treat so many sinus infections, colds etc.
Take your amoxicillin and an anti fungal drug as a cocktail and you will probably not have another sinus infection for years. Order it from Canada if you have too.

My GP is a PITA when it comes to sinus infections. The next time he suggests a Neti Pot, we might throw down.

fyi
One young doctor didn't look in my eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
The ENT looked and didn't even notice my polyps, she probably don't even know what they are.
yet these are the brilliant minds.

Mexican grocery stores sell ampicillin. But, to the OP - for 30 years you were likely given a placebo that put you at risk for side effects and allergy development, and put you and the general public at risk for bacterial resistance. You prob would have gotten better at the same time anyway and your immune system would be healthier without it.

If you would just get vaxed you wouldn't be having these issues
